Traumatizing Experience

Laser Hair Removal Patients Beware!!! I went to Dr. Patel for laser hair removal after speaking with him and his staff multiple times and being reassured that his equipment was safe on darker skin tones. Dr. Patel and his staff were very nice and reassuring and I felt comfortable. However, after just one session of laser hair removal my abdomen and bikini area was left with very large and painful burns/scabs within an hour of treatment. I was told by the doctor and his staff these scabs would go away in a week and that they were "normal". After a month of these burns/scabs turning into very dark scars I was still being told that things were "healing nicely". I even went to another dermatologist who confirmed that I had 2nd-degree burns on my body and relayed that info to Dr. Patel -- still there was a lack of urgency when it came to addressing my concerns directly and that was alarming/extremely uncomfortable for me as someone who was very nervous about laser to begin with. I don't know if this was due to my skin tone or just the doctor's inability to set the machine properly, but regardless this was traumatizing and unacceptable. While he and his staff were nice, they were clearly not well informed on how to perform laser hair removal and ended up doing way more damage to my skin and self-esteem. Years later I am still waiting for scars to fade due to this carelessness. Please think twice before booking this doctor specifically for laser treatments.
