I suffered facial fat atrophy starting within a few weeks of getting this treatment. It ruined my face! I was pretty and self-confident before and looked much younger than I am. I suffered psychologically from this treatment in ways you can't even imagine. My thyroid stopped working, I had always been quite healthy before. I had three nodes on my thyroid when it was checked because I suddenly developed hypothyroid symptoms. Worse, I developed a tumor in my pituitary gland. I am not the only person that has suffered endocrine damage following laser. My endocrinologist agrees that the laser probably did it. He explained that cancer radiation can do the same thing. Lasers at high settings or with faulty filters can deliver ionizing radiation because very intense ultraviolet waves are ionizing. It's crazy because my father was dying of skin cancer when I decided to do the laser. I had read that removing the sun spots might prevent cancer and I had some small patches of melasma. I first tried IPL for the brown spots (another dangerous device!) but it actually made the spots darker. I went to this dermatologist because he said he could correct the problem. He was right. The melasma is gone, but I'd take it back any day!
In addition to the facial changes, my entire body changed. I lost fat in my hands, toes and labia. I never had cellulite before but my skin thinned all over and lost elasticity and now I have cellulite everywhere. This all happened very quickly after laser.
Lasers and IPL of all kinds and Ultherapy are very dangerous. I belong to support groups and know many people who have been irrevocably harmed by these devices. Don't do it! Most skin problems can be helped with a good diet. Avoid xenoestrogens and hormones in food that isn't organic. I could have fixed my melasma on my own by addressing estrogen dominance. If you want to look a little younger or repair acne scars, try microneedling and acupuncture. They work and they don't destroy your face and your health.
Fat grafting and adipose stem cells have improved my face but it will never, ever be the same.

There is another person in these reviews who was damaged like I was by Dr.Joseph Leiker of Shawnee Mission. She lists Lenexa as the area, the two towns are right next to each other. I tried to sue and had a case but my medical witness refused to go to court because doctors are hesitant to stand up to other doctors. When my attorney contacted Dr. Leiker he altered my medical records and made stuff up to make it appear that I went in looking really bad and aged. I was still getting carded regularly and anyone who knew me could tell you I looked at least 15 years younger than I was. I heard that all of the time. He lies and he's an attorney as well as a doctor so he knows all of the legal ins and outs. I think that scared my witness and my attorney.
