WORTH IT$44,000
It's now been over 8 years since I had G4. My implants and bridges are fine, but after two yearly repairs to my bridges from my fall and face-plant in 2023 when on a polar expedition, I've decided to get new nano-ceramic bridges at my next recare visit, a year earlier than the 5 years originally planned.

There have been a lot of changes in the last couple of years concerning G4 by Golpa. If you're considering G4, the best way to keep up with any G4 news is to join either the Facebook patient run public or private G4 groups. I suggest the G4 by Golpa Patients private group where only the members can read the posts.

Nano-Ceramic Bridges

SKdivr
It's now been over 5 years since having G4. I get a lot of complements on my smile and people tell me I don't look my age. My smile is a big part of me looking younger. I decided to upgrade to nano-ceramic bridges last year during my recare visit at Tysons Corner, VA, a closer location for me than Las Vegas, although Vegas is much more fun. Love the nano-ceramic material and finally love my smile. Arlex and the rest of the design team at Tysons Corner are masters at crafting beautiful smiles.

Beautiful smile. What was your cost in Virginia?
And how painful was your treatment. Thanks so much.
February 1, 2023
At Tyson's my cost was $8,000 to upgrade to nano-ceramic bridges. My G4 surgery was in Mar, 2017 in Las Vegas, their only location then, and my total cost to date is $55,500, not counting travel expenses. I knew my case was complicated so I requested Dr. Golpa do my surgery and paid $5K extra for it. My other extra charges were 1 additional implant, removing 3 old implants, a sinus lift, bone graphs and an extended warranty that's no longer offered. I had more pain than most, because they removed old implants and did a sinus lift. I took hydrocodone for the pain, which was much easier a prescription in 2017 than today.

Meant to say, "Easier to get a prescription in 2017 than today." If you don't see my initial story, then click on "64, G4 Implants Las Vegas, NV above the bolded title with the same wording and look for the heading "Went to our dentist two years ago and was told it..." posted on 5 Apr 2017.

I’m considering upgrading to Nano ceramic, are you still happy? What difference can I expect from upgrading?
February 22, 2025
If you have read all my comments from the beginning you'll see my nanos were my fifth set of bridges and I'm still wearing them.Yes, I love my nano-ceramic bridges. Besides what I wrote above, they are stronger, lighter, more natural looking, stain less, give me better biting force, more flexible under stress, feel better and are less bulky. Have I had issues with them? Yes, they cracked from me losing my balance and landing face first on a large chunk of ice during a polar expedition trek. They were repaired during my annual recare visit a couple of months later. I plan to replace them every five years.

Thank you for you follow up to my questions. First, you went through a lot of pain to get to where you are feeling like you can eat except on that right side which that should be fixable with all you visits and upgrades you have had. I must say you have a beautiful smile. With that said and as much money as you have paid you should not have any pain eating.
I am considering the Virginia office as I need my teeth extracted first and then I have to start the " journey". It's nice to know real people give honest opinions about their experiences, real self is a great way to know who to see and who not to go to. I really don't have 50,000 to spend on teeth but I don't want dentures either. It's a shame that dental insurance and the insurance companies don't find teeth necessary. I am down to 105 lbs. As it's difficult to eat. I will do what I can to get teeth as soon as possible as this is not a situation I can endure. I have dry mouth syndrome due to medications I have to take and it has wrecked havock on my teeth breaking off at the gum line etc .. during COVID-19 I had to pull three teeth. I live in NY and Dentist were closed in the beginning. It's been two years and I have to do something before I starve to death .. I thank you for answering my questions. I hope the office in Virginia can do everything that Dr Golpas office can do. I may have to go with the new flexible dentures . They are soft and palatless to save money. But anything is better than what's happening now. As far as the pain meds hopefully the dentist can write and should as they know how painful it is. Especially everything you went through. That must have been very painful.
Again , thank you so much
Regards, Susan

Like I mentioned in my original post, my pain, which was not typical, lasted about a month, but was nothing compared to the pain I had with my original implants in the 90s. Most people don't have a sinus lift, bone grafts nor old implants removed, which are harder to remove than natural teeth. By the third week I was only taking a narcotic at bedtime in order to sleep. I was on a soft diet for six months, not for pain, but to protect the sinus lift, bone graft area. Plus I had only 10 teeth on the bridge, instead of the usual 12 so no teeth in the back on the right side where the implant was hidden until my 6 month visit. My costs are not typical, because most people don't have complicated cases. The current prices, which I've read are going up soon, are on the G4 by Golpa website. All this happened six years ago.

With G4 the teeth are extracted and then the implants are put in all on the same day. You go back the next afternoon for your permanent bridges. Other dentists have an entirely different process.

Try grinding your food up if you have no teeth for chewing. A mini food processor is what I used for six months while I was on a soft diet. A ground up salad doesn't taste the same, but the nutrition is the same.

Oh my goodness you are a strong woman . You really have been on a painful journey. I read everything you went through it truly sounds like a night mare. And of course in the 90s implants were the new thing vs bulky dentures. But also, they were big implants and dentist were not trained as well as they are now. It was a money making market for them. So you have a 100,,000 mouth. You deserve to have comfortable teeth that are gorgeous after all you have been through. No, a ground up salad does not sound good. I am living off soups and more soup's. I found a bone broth that is high in protein. I just cannot lose any more weight.
I know this has been a long journey for you. I wish I was there already. And I am afraid that losing any more weight post op and during the healing process will be more detrimental to my health. I just hate the taste of ensure but I am going to have to stick up and make high calorie/ probably smoothie's I can live off that for a couple of months. I need to somehow gain 10 lbs before I start this journey. I am registered nurse and was working when COVID hit NY then I got very sick with COVID and was hospitalized and intubated fora month after almost 8 weeks I was thankfully discharged. That's when my teeth went to hell Although, I had a ton of beautiful crowns on most of my teeth except for the four bottom front teeth. I had a beautiful smile.I think, I have my suspicions that COVID and being intubated full 100 percent rebreather oxygen just ruined my teeth. My crowns started breaking off at the gum line and my teeth were becoming looser by the day. I actually pulled three loose teeth at home as the dentist offices were in total closed mode until Cuomo allowed emergency licenses for Avery few dental offices . I am very thankful to be alive.
I am grateful every day I wake up ... Unfortunately I became disabled due to COVID-19 to perform my job duties and honestly I never want to go into another hospital again. I was very fortunate that I got my disability approved within six months with hiring a lawyer. Sounds like we both have had our fair share of problems . I just want this to go smoothly. Who wouldn't?
Sorry, I got off track. I will keep in touch as I am going to see a dentist who specializes in implants locally in New York. I just can't afford 50,000 . Nice chatting with you. I have learned a lot from your experiences.

G4 by Golpa is not $50,000 for most people, because they don't need a sinus lift, bone graft or old implant removed. Some will require an extra implant or two at $1,500 each. The G4 base price for PMMA bridges is currently $33,500. The G4 nano-ceramic bridges, which is what I have now, is currently $39,500. Good luck finding someone in or around NYC who will do it for less than $33,500.

Second Follow-up Visit

SKdivr
I went back to Las Vegas this past week for my 2nd follow-up visit. On both my initial visit and my first follow-up visit I had surgery, so it was nice to be in town for just a normal follow-up visit.

I purchased their $3500 10 year extended warranty on my initial visit a year ago, so my bridges are warranted for 15 years. Thank goodness I didn't delay my surgery, because the extended warranty is no longer offered and the warranty for the bridges is now only two years for new customers, but the good news is the price is cheaper so more people may be able to afford to get G4 implants.

When they were cleaning my bridges they discovered a crack. Since the newer bridge material is different from the older bridge material, both upper and lower bridges were remade so they would match. This new material is much better. Before the new bridges were made, I discussed with them my concerns with my current bridges and I’m happy to say they addressed them all. The bulkiness of my bridges is gone, the ledge is now barely there, the gum areas look more natural, and the bridges are slightly shorter so I no longer bite my left cheek. I also asked for smaller teeth, but was told my teeth need to be a certain size to function correctly, so while I would prefer smaller teeth, it’s just not possible, if I want my teeth to function well. My bite was also off on the right side so I had been chewing mainly on the left side. With these new bridges they corrected my right side bite issues, except I’m now biting my front right cheek occasionally. It's been years since I've chewed food on the right side, so I just need to slow down when chewing until it becomes more natural to chew on the right side again. A minor complaint since all my other issues, except tooth size, were fixed.

While these new bridges feel great, unfortunately food still gets trapped under them. It's mainly under the lower bridge. It's not really a big deal unless I'm eating in public. Not only do these bridges feel great, they really do feel more like real teeth. Now I see why people are getting used to them so fast. I do agree with others that this new ‘flexi’ material feels dryer and not as smooth, but the positives of this new material far, far outweighs the minor negatives.

WOOOT!!! So excited that so many of your issues have been resolved. :) I don't know if I have gotten use to the "dry" feeling or if has just gone away because it doesn't bother me anymore. I am glad you are more comfortable and hopefully everything will continue to improve for you! I have to schedule my follow up this week.
April 23, 2018
Thanks. I think the 'dry' feeling is the excess material on the bridges from filling the screw holes and the excess gradually comes off, because now my bridges feel less dry than they did a few weeks ago.
April 23, 2018
You've got me very curious as to what's going to happen during my first followup next month. I think I have at least 1 crack in mine which woukd likely mean replacement but I wonder if it will be just 1 or both?
The dryness/sticky/big teeth thing is definitely an ongoing concern as well. Hey Ang, please be sure to post after you have yours done which, apparently, will be approx 2 weeks before me.
May 4, 2018
I am wondering about the food getting under the bridges. I am looking at only having my top done. I have a partial on the top now and cannot stand wearing it because of food getting under it. Do you think this is an issue?
May 4, 2018
For sure it will as your gums recede as they heal from the surgery. Geberally, after a few months, you go back either for the perm(s) or the first followup if you got your perms right awsy like with Gulpa, where they fill in the gap by modifying the bridge with a relining, etc. There will always be at least a tiny gap in most cases due to the implants that support the bridge being of slightly different height than the bridge itself but it is extremely manageable if they do a good job on your followup (s).
May 7, 2018
Ok, thanks.
May 7, 2018
As far as food getting stuck under my bridges, it's a lot worse under my bottom bridge than my upper bridge.
May 28, 2022
Definitey true, that is what waterpiks are for! It actually gets better with time as your gums adapt.
May 28, 2022
That is so odd. You were offered an extended warranty. I had mine done there before you and was not offered it nor was it ever mentioned. It was IMPLIED that I was getting a lifetime warranty. I am glad you like your new teeth. I eventually ended up with all zirconia and could not be happier with them vs the acrylic or the weirdish PMMA stuff.
July 17, 2022
I have several Waterpiks. Love their newest one, The Ion Professional. MY G4 surgery was Mar, 2017 and I believe yours was in Nov, 2017. I know they ended the extended warranty sometime in 2017, but I don't know the exact date.

Glad you like your zirconia bridges. I upgraded to nano-ceramic last year and love them. Just returned from another recare visit and now a lot less food gets underneath my bridges. I never had their newest material, PMMA. When I upgraded to nano-ceramic last year, my 4th acrylic set was cracked on the upper right side and had a broken tooth on the bottom left side.

Thanks that given me some hope
