10yrs Post Op Landband

I have read lots of reviews and thought someone might also find my experience helpful.
I had my lapband done May 2010 starting weight 125kg (27yrs old). The operation had no complication and I was even able to eat solid foods much earlier than I though I would be able to (3 weeks after). I lost about 15kg in the first 6 months, which I was quite disappointed with, considering I was eating less, following all the right diet and doing the right exercises. I have only ever over the last 9years got down to 102kg with a constant yoyo between 105kg-115kg , I could never crack that 100kg mark. While I am not necessarily happy with my results from the lapband, one thing it did do for me was not let me get any bigger, which I 100% would have had I not had it done. ( I have also had 2 babies in this time, I had no issues being pregnant with lapband)
Another thing I have had to learn is that there is nothing that will replace good habits like regular exercise and a well balanced eating habits. I have tried may programs on the lapband on with only limited results long term.
I am now getting my lapband removed as I have been having issues with food getting stuck even though I have no liquid in my band and a test showed that my esophagus is enlarged so my doctor has said that I will now have to have it removed. I have no plans to get it replaced or try any other weight loss surgeries. I am currently 108kg. I am now at the point that I have realised that there is more to it for me than I thought. The Dr's I had were amazing, they have been very understanding and helped where they could. I would defiantly recommend AMOS (Adelaide, AU).
If I was to go back in time and give some advise to my younger self it would be to try one thing for a year before going ahead with surgery (without stoping). Changes take longer than a 1 or 3 month program, but after a whole year of just sticking with the one thing it see how you go. As any changes you make with the lapband will also need to be continued.
I am not going to lie I am 100% jealous of the people it has worked amazingly for and I was hoping it was going to do for me. Of all the weight loss surgeries I would say its one of the safest as it can be undone if it doesn't work. That is always something to think about when making your decision.
