I've been on this site for a while reading everyone's stories. I love coming on here because it has been a great source for information. I am scheduled to have my surgery on Friday April 22nd with Dr. Louis Mes in Lafayette, Louisiana. So far everything has been great. My consultation I had with him was more than what I could've hoped for. Immediately upon meeting him, he came in with a big smile and put me at ease. He was very thorough with all of the information on the procedure and took his time explaining any questions I had. His staff has also been great. Both times I have went in for my consultation and preop appointment they made me feel so comfortable and you can tell they really care. I'm very excited to have my surgery next week, but also very nervous. I get anxious really easily, so I made sure to ask them to give me happy juice when I get there for surgery lol
My stats:
27 years old
2 year old twins
5'4
116 lbs
Getting 325cc HP smooth round silicone implants under the muscle
I have been working out 5 days a week, but this week I have stopped upper body exercises until after I'm healed from surgery. Any advice for recovery would be greatly appreciated. I will try and post some pictures soon!

Good luck with your surgery! It might be difficult to not workout for a few weeks, but it's definitely important to give yourself ample time to recover. Listen to your body. I know at two weeks, I drove on a 2 1/2 hour road trip and exhausted myself. I was surprised how many chest muscles you use while driving! I also got medicine bottles that weren't child proof so I didn't have to exert myself opening them, but that may not be feasible since you have two little ones. Doing the massage and stretching routines the nurse prescribed really helped too.

Yeah I really don't want to overdo it afterwards. How often did you do the massaging and how long afterwards did you find your drivibg back to normal?
April 15, 2016
And thank you :) I'm nervous, but so excited! I can't believe it's finally so close!

I went easy the first week post open, didn't even start to mess with them for the first few days...I babied myself lol but then the nurse at my first option came in and pretty much lobster clawed my boobs and showed me how they could take some relatively aggressive massaging. My nurse showed me what massages and stretches she wanted me to do at my post op and had me practice to make sure I was doing them correctly. I found doing them in the shower or right afterwards was easiest and when I first woke up. My first 6 weeks I massaged and stretched as much as I could, any time I could remember or had free time. Sometimes I'd even go into the bathroom at work and do some massaging if they were feeling uncomfortable during the day. Definitely follow the recommendation of your ps/nurse though. I was back to feeling normal driving by my third week. I think I just overdid it by taking on a road trip to visit my family as my first driving attempt after surgery!

Don't know why my phone keeps autocorrecting the word op :/ and be prepared to be most sore when you first wake up, that's why I liked massaging in the morning...helped that discomfort to be eased. That only lasted a few weeks though.

I bet the warm water in the shower felt better since I would think it would help relax the muscles. Lobster clawed made me laugh lol How long after your surgery were you able to take your first shower. I think that's what I'm most nervous about is how sore I'm going to be upon waking up. I see everyone seems to be different. I have an hour and a half drive home, so hoping it goes well.

I used baby wipes to clean off for the first 3 days until I could take my bandages off from my incisions (I had through the armpit technique). I was in the shower after that. Luckily my other half was sweet enough to help wash and brush my hair for me (it's pretty long) for the first week or so because it was sore to lift my arms too high. Overall, I didn't have a lot of pain or anything like that. Just soreness and some sharp pangs every once in awhile from nerves.

Hey kodaandcj15, 2 days to go!! Can't wait to follow your recovery. You made the best choice by using Dr Mes. Are you doing it at PARKPLACE Surgical Center in Lafayette? I did mine there and it was great. I spent the night because of the multiple procedures. I went on my post op appt yesterday and I wasn't told to start massaging my breasts. I go back next week for another appt so maybe that's when they teach you to massage. Don't be afraid, it's really not bad. You will wake up sore on your chest with some burning at the incisions but nothing you can't handle.

I know. I can't believe I only have 1 day left with small boobs! I'm glad I decided to go with Dr. Mes. I've only heard very good things about him. I will be having my surgery at Parkplace. When I went to pre-admit everyone was so nice. I'm so excited, but still nervous. I keep telling myself if I can get through an emergency c section then I can get through this just fine lol I need to take and post some pre BA pictures.

I have boobs!

I had my surgery Friday. I was so nervous but Dr. Mes came in and put me at ease and the the anesthesiologist came in and gave me the happy juice for my nerves lol that definitely helped a lot. He was also very nice. Everyone there took really good care of me and made me feel so comfortable. I woke up in a lot of pain so they had to prescribe me some muscle relaxers. Luckily the surgery center has a pharmacy. The whole day after surgery was pretty much a blur from being on the pain medicine. I got nauseated some but never threw up. The phenergan helped with that. I just made sure to take it with my pain pills. So far I haven't located too bad. I've been drinking my ItWorks Berry Greens since they work as a detox and it's great for the immune system. Also after I get my bath this evening I'm going to put on one of the ItWorks wraps which also works as a detox and anti-inflammatory. They always make me feel so much better. Tomorrow I go for my post op visit. I haven't been allowed to take my surgical bra off since surgery. They have the gauze stuffed in it. They should take it off tomorrow and I'll get to wear a regular sports bra woo hop this contraption is making me itch and I'm ready to see the girls lol Are there any sports bras anyone recommends getting to wear until I can wear a regular bra?

Sorry for any typos lol I forgot to add that the anesthesiologist told me that about half of the nurses that work at the surgery center chose Dr. Mes and that's after having worked with all the doctors there. I know I would definitely recommend him to anyone. He has been amazing!

The nurses chose Dr. Mes to do their surgeries*

I am happy to hear everything is going well! I have found the Victoria's Secret Lounge bra to be extremely comfortable. It's soft, no underwire and a mix between a sports bra and regular bra. You might want to wait a few weeks for swelling to go down to get a good sizing though. Until then I found wearing just a camisole in my first few weeks was comfortable and added enough modesty.
April 27, 2016
I'm definitely going to have to check the lounge bras out when my swelling goes down some. Thank you for the recommendation :)

5 Days since surgery!

kodaandcj15
It's the 5th day after surgery. Definitely feeling a lot better. I'm off of my pain medicine. I just have to take ibuprofen every now and then because my muscles will tense up some mornings and evenings. I had went to the doctor on Monday. They said everything looked good. No bruising and I could drive and not to lift anything over 10 lbs. I go back tomorrow to see the doctor. They said he will clip my stitches and they will teach me how to do the massages. So far I am very happy with how they are looking. Can't wait for them to start dropping. The photo attached is from the 3rd day after surgery when I was finally able to take my surgical bra off.

Yay!!! I'm so happy for you!! Your boobs look awesome!! Dr Mes did mine too and I'm 2weeks post op and they haven't told me to massage yet and they haven't removed my sutures yet. I still have the clear surgical tape. I have an appt tomorrow so maybe they will do all that then. And maybe it's because I had multiple procedures (Lipo and abdominoplasty) that they are moving slower with my massages. Idk but I will ask tomorrow. I also saw that you were asking about post op bra, I was told specifically what store to go to in Lafayette (LaFemme) and what bra to get that was approved by Dr Mes, I was told to bring it to my post op appt and my surg bra was removed and the new one was put on and to be worn until they tell me otherwise. Anyway, you look great!!!
April 27, 2016
Thank you so much! They feel better each day! Yeah. Maybe they are taking it slower with you since you've had multiple procedures. I need to check that store out. I have that coupon that was given in the goodie bag from Dr. Mes. I hope you keep healing well!
