Labiaplasty (One Side Only)

ORIGINAL POST

Labiaplasty (One Side Only)

WORTH IT$7,500
I have been insecure for years about my asymmetrical labia minora, and finally got the courage (and funds) to do something about it this year. I scheduled a virtual consultation with Dr Reish during the NYC covid crisis. I also received a rhinoplasty from Dr Reish, and this is what we discussed during the consult primarily. I asked him about labiaplasty and described my concerns and he seemed confident he could deal with it. I didn't show him over the phone! It was all very respectful and professional.

At my pre-operative appointment he saw them for the first time. Aesthetically, all I need was tissue trimmed from one side to match the other side, but I've read this is actually very complicated to do. Most surgeons prefer to take tissue from both sides to get a better match. Dr Reish didn't seem worried about that, and said he would just do the one side, no problem. I really chose him for my rhinoplasty, but because I've always wanted this done, too, I figured it would be good to get them both done, and he seemed very confident, so I took a leap.

It turned out amazing. The two sides match perfectly and the edge is very smooth. I'm still a bit sore, but I'm sure it will resolve soon. I had no issues with numbness or nerve pain whatsoever. Reading about this, I saw a lot of stories about people in intense pain. This wasn't my experience at all. I had no stinging during urination and the swelling wasn't over the top. I could walk around that day just fine and was back to my routine by around day 5 after surgery.

The worst part about this surgery was the stitches. I didn't have much pain at all during recovery, but I could feel them poking me from time to time as they dissolved and came loose. Finally, I swallowed my embarrassment and texted Dr Reish to ask if he would please take them out. He responded right away and told me to call his desk for an appointment and to let him know if they couldn't squeeze me in. They did, and his PA Rachel actually did the stitch removal. She is excellent and has a very warm, approachable bedside manner. She was super gentle, but quick, and it was a huge relief to have it done with. She warned me the edges would look a little "scalloped" at first, but as the swelling went down it would smooth out. I decided not to wait for Dr Reish to finish the surgery he was doing to have him take a look-I had complete confidence in Rachel's ability.

Rachel was right about the edges. By about 8 weeks post-op it looked perfect and 100% natural. There's no scar or anything to clue you in that something happened. I'm really happy I had this done.
