My journey began when my left implant deflated in...

My journey began when my left implant deflated in October of 2010. My original augmentation was in 1994. I did not have any complications with the 420cc saline filled implants by Allergan in 16 years. I was advised that “if it isn’t broken, don’t fix it” and since my right implant did not seem like it had a problem, I chose to only to replace the left implant with the same Allergan 420cc saline. I went back to the surgeon who performed my original augmentation. After the surgery my breasts look symmetrical and I was extremely happy. Until one year later and two weeks before our daughter’s wedding. To my horror, my right breast implant was completely deflated. I did not want to have surgery right before her wedding in case there were complications so I stuffed my bra and tried to make the best of being lopsided through the whole affair. For any of you that have had to go through this, you will know how devastating it is. But after the wedding, I decided to replace both implants with smaller Allegan 390cc silicone filled implants. Again I went back to the same surgeon. I am a thin woman and even though my implants are under the muscle, this time my left breast had a ripple near my cleavage due to loss of tissue and because I don’t have thick enough skin or fat to cover the implant. Then a few months later, my left breast implant started to harden and became misshapen. Soon it became terribly painful. I researched encapsulation and realized that surgery would be necessary. I also researched the Alloderm Mesh as a way to add another layer under my skin so no further rippling would occur. My surgeon had never worked with the mesh for breast revisions so I started my search for a doctor who was familiar with the procedure. That is when I found Dr. Pousti.

For anyone needing a capsulectomy I encourage you to visit with Dr. Pousti. He is professional yet personable. He told us the truth yet was always optimistic. He spent the time my husband and I needed to go over what he could do and what outcome I could expect. If I had a question, I emailed him and he answered me the same day. The pre-op room in the outpatient facility was the most comfortable I have been in. The follow up has been courteous and like family. But the best is the outcome. My surgery was in June and I waited 9 months to write this review. My left breast is soft, and without pain. There is no new rippling and my breasts look exactly alike. Yes I know no two breasts are ever exact. But in my eyes they are. And that says everything about Dr. Pousti’s work. He took a terribly disfigured encapsulated implant and made it look perfect and made me whole again. I am so ever grateful.
