Sadly, I need another neck lift! The skin is still too loose. Yes, it improved but it didn't last past a year. He said I would need a redo in 5-7 years. I was 48 at the time. I am most disconcerted by the ugly scar that IS VISIBLE on the hairline because he didn't go further into the hairline. It is visible to everyone and I have to use blush to change the white color of the one inch scar. I hate it! THere's also an indentation on that side by the scar and I really don't know if a filler would work. He's a very nice man but I am extremely dissatisfied as anyone with that result would be! He did my breast lift and a new, smaller implant and I couldn't be happier! They have dropped and they look very natural. My scars were gone before the end of the first year. Total costs for both was around $11,500.

Thank you for sharing your experience on RealSelf! Will you be going to the same doctor for your neck lift revision (if you have one)?

Definitely not!

Who are you going to see for the revision? I too am in the San Diego area and trying to find the right PS to repair the neck. My first doctor did only one side of my neck and I look and feel weird. I have constant numbness in the upper half of my ear and pain on the right side just below the ear. It's miserable! I have to get it repaired but don't know who to go to as I will not go back to the original doctor.

I'm not in the market yet and will wait until I can't stand it. Have you seen the "Turkey Neck" informercials? I'm wondering about trying Perricone's product. I used to use a neck lift cream-in-a-jar product only available at medi-spas.

Sorry to hear this about dr.A. He just did an amazing FL on a friend and she looks great.

Hi Julie Blue Eyes, I had a neck lift in Dec. 2014. I had no turkey waddle, just some loose crepey skin. When I look straight forward the skin looks fine, but when I turn or lower my head the skin crumples like a cheap suit. I went to the post-op review, waited forever and was told my doc hadn't intended to see me, just the nurse. I have puckering and scarring under my jaw which cannot be seen unless you are standing underneath me. When I complained that I wasn't happy with the crepey texture I was told that the skin remodels over 6 months. I think this is it for me since, unlike some patients, I did not have massive skin and fat removed. He did repair the platysma, but as mentioned, I have skin crepier than before. I'm not happy with my neck lift, but in fairness, have tried to give this plenty of time to resolve. You can see my post and photo under Lautrec. You can't really see much difference between the before and after. In any event, I intend to visit the doctor soon to determine what he will do for me. I paid $6,900 for a neck lift only (inc. surgical fees) but still see the crepey skin that brought me to surgery in the first place. In any event, would love to hear more about what you plan to do. I never want a knife taken to my neck again. I've never had a face lift and never will. It's just not worth the risk. One final point: you are still an attractive looking woman. I'd wager your problem is similar to mine in that you hold yourself to a high standard regarding your looks. I guess this is about balance: looking our best without taking the risks associated with going too far. Thanks for your post.

The doctor saw my post and kindly contacted me and wanted to revise it. He said he would fix scar for no cost and would only charge me a slight fee to cover anesthesia and operating room cost to do the procedure again. Apparently he has some new techniques he has learned in the last three years. I hate to go under the knife again and deal with recovery. I also experienced hearing lost on my left ear 2 to 3 weeks and I sought many doctors to see what the problem was. Apparently it can happen during surgery to some neck patients. I suspect it could have been A teeny piece of cotton that got caught in the ear canal. It was more annoying than anything I have ever experienced! I doubt any cream can fix my crepey skin. I am not sure what I will do! Thank you for commenting!

I hear you, going under the knife is scary, particularly when you read what has happened to some of these poor souls. That's a tough decision: to decide to take another chance when your result is pretty good, but not nearly as much as you'd hoped for. I feel like I'm in the same place. Under my jaw the skin is puckered. Personally, I'm not likely to go through this again without out a full understanding of what I can gain and how likely I'll achieve it and at what risk to me.

Why not try the Precision treatment which tightens with heat under the skin? The cost is @3500. I am looking into this versus a necklift. OR there is the Thermitight which my doctor told me is not as reliable or aggressive.

Hi Julie, I just found your post now, which is a year old. I am looking to find out about a neck lift myself. It has been 19 years since my last one and so I am trying to get all the information I can. I don't want any other procedures mainly because of cost. Now that your post is a year old I hope you have gotten it resolved. Will read on to see now....

Not perfect, but certainly not horrible.
