56 y/o married mom of 4 had 3 procedures done at same time, 4 wks ago. abdominoplasty (tummy tuck), vaginoplasty and labiaplasty (both are considered part of vaginal rejuvenation). Mainly concerned with look and feel of my loose cavernous vagina I found a great doctor on RealSelf. I knew I wanted the rejuvenation surgery and mentioned that I've lost 30 lbs a yr and half ago and kept it off. I continue to work out hard and just can't get rid of the excess skin on my tummy (plus I had ugly stretch marks). I remember one of my trainers telling me, "but your skin is your skin". I've always dreamed of having abs. Anyway, I mentioned it to the doctor (an actual ob/gyn) that I've thought about tummy tuck. He said, the best thing I could do is recover at the same time. So I took his referral to his buddy, a licensed plastic surgeon and got a consultation. After meeting the PS, I even considered breast implants but he said mine very still very fine, for my age! The procedures were scheduled, I had a pre-op apt to clear me then I went for it. The first two weeks were pretty much taking it easy at home. My husband stayed with me that day of surgery (Friday), the weekend and Monday. I was on my own by Tuesday. I would say that recovery was pretty easy. I had percoset for pain and ibuprofen 600. You have to wear a compression garment and make sure you are very clean at all times to avoid infections. It was pretty easy to do with the little spritz bottle they give you like after childbirth. Got off narcotics and went to Extra Strength Tylenol after 1 week, only at night did I take the percoset to help me sleep better. but I'm totally off the perc now. Went back to work after two weeks, was slightly afraid people would notice the hunch. No one did. There's still swelling on the incision site especially at night after a full day at work, etc. I feel 80% right now and was told it'll be a good three months before I start feeling close to 100%. I really love the job he did and am very pleased (and my husband!) with the outcome. I would say it's perfect timing for me, just when I got down to a size 2 and couldn't get any lower, it was the last and best thing I could do for myself after having 4 vaginal childbirths and losing all that extra weight, finally.
