I was referred to Dr. Kotlus by a friend whose husband is also an eye surgeon. Upon meeting him his NYC office, I felt instantly comforted. I explained, badly, that I wanted less tired looking eyes and I thought I should get an upper eye lift (I had very droopy eyelids on the sides which then seemed to vanish completely at the top of my eye) He told me that I should wait and see what I would look like with botox injections in my forehead to raise the eye, which I ended up liking. However, I still wanted to eyelid lift to add more definition. Dr. Kotlus seemed a little hesitant to do it which I appreciated. I'd been to other doctors without his expertise who jumped at the change and, in turn, somewhat freaked me out. However, he finally agreed and I metamorphosed into the most freak out patient ever. Luckily, Dr. Kotlus has a bed side manner of no other doctor I have ever meet. He allowed me to pepper him with repeated questions and emphasize that he would not force me to continue, which, of course, made me want to eye lift more but also trust him more. The surgery itself was done at a very cute surgical center where I really liked the staff. Dr. Kotlus spent time with me beforehand, explaining what would happen. During the produce, I was completely aware, though my eyes were closed. I didn't really mind it that much--Dr. Kotlus had music and also talked about Netflix, which was a welcome distraction. After surgery, my swelling followed what I had been told in my surgical packet. Dr. Kotlus called me that night to check in on me and, later on, answered a call from me right after I had a minor accident with a friend. I think it's probably annoying to have to get calls from patients on your time off but I freaked out in recovery so I really, really appreciated his kindness. Now it's two weeks out. My upper eyes look amazing. I've never been able to wear make up before hand--now I can easily do so. Moreover, I've gotten more compliments on my eyes in the past week at work than I ever got before the surgery. For a very small surgery---as Dr.Kotlus said---it adds platform to your eye---it's made a big difference. I'm 24 and I wanted to surgery for a while; however, it's pretty rare in someone in my age group. That being so, go to someone who has the skill to realize what you need and also, what you don't need. As mentioned, a lot of people tried to sell me on more experience, invasive procedures before I met Dr. Kotlus, who never did that and who, as a result, I really appreciated.
