Provider Review
I first visited Richard Karoo in September after a lot of research and a long time considering surgery. I had drooping breasts and had lost volume. At our first meeting he immediately put me at ease. He's very calm, very patient and most of all really wants to understand why you are having the operation and what results you are expecting so he can advise what will be best for you. After lots of discussion we agreed an implant and uplift would give me the best results. As there are a number of different types of uplift, with varying results and various levels of scarring, I needed to go away and think carefully about if I wanted to go ahead with both surgeries and what type of uplift I would want. I took a couple of weeks to think about this and then went back for a second consultation. This was all included in the original consultation price. We had another fairly long discussion and I opted for a donut lift with 225cc implants of mid profile to give some volume. I was able to choose my hospital and dates that were suitable for me. I was also advised that any further questions between the second consultation and the operation, to just call and make an appointment and I could go and have another chat. On the day of my operation at Nuffield at the Vale I saw Richard Karoo in the morning got marked up and waited for my operation time. Unfortunately and this was totally down to the hospital and not the doctor the wrong type implants had been ordered. The hospital and doctor were very sympathetic and the doctor said that rather than go ahead with the operation and not have the agreed implants it would be best if I rebook. That was difficult for me due to time pressures and other commitments and also the fact that you are there prepared to have your operation physically and psychologically. After a number of discussions and contact other hospitals the correct implants could be sourced. The doctor and anesthetist both agreed that even though they had clinics at different hospitals the next day, if I could be ready for my operation at 6am the next morning, they would do that before going off to their other clinics. That for me is service second to none. They didn't have to be that flexible but understood how important it was for me to have the op at that time. I had my surgery that morning, saw the doctor after that before he went off to clinic and he came back that night to see me. The nursing staff at Nuffield were excellent, really friendly and caring. I saw the doctor the next morning and then I was discharged. I'm six weeks post op and have seen the doctor three times since leaving hospital, all included in the price, and I will have a follow up at four months and at seven months and again I've been told that if I have any questions just to call and make an appointment. Richard Karoo has been a fantastic doctor. Great advice, gave me realistic expectations and now it's like going to see an old friend when I go for my checkups. I have had a brilliant experience, my results are fantastic, I've healed well and scarring is minimal and only six weeks after is looking amazing. I would highly recommend Richard Karoo.
