I am a single working mother and am a nurse myself...

I am a single working mother and am a nurse myself who has met with and worked in several hospitals with a myriad of Physicians for over 20+ years, and have taken care of any number of complicated post-operative patients over the years. During that time, I have also have cared for patients who were admitted in-patient after having undergone facial, breast, reconstructive and abdominal Cosmetic Surgery procedures, and have personally seen a range of outcomes. So, over the years, I have a working knowledge base of what great cosmetic surgery can look like. In 2000, I was 288 pounds and for my height was 110 pounds overweight, but was also severely hypertensive at that weight at age 28. Due to my blood pressure and because I was over the 100-pound threshold for being obese, I underwent Gastric Bypass and within 6 months, lost 120 pounds, and had a normal blood pressure without medication, which continues today. Surprisingly, my skin held up and at a size 40D naturally, I did not suffer with flaccid or drooping breasts, and did not have loose, hanging abdominal skin or thighs. I maintained that body condition and my weight successfully for about 15 years (even after a pregnancy) and my weight ranged anywhere from 160-175 pounds over that time. Around 2015, I noticed higher fluctuations in my weight (180’s-190’s) but most disappointing was that the integrity of my skin changed considerably with my age and weight gain and I developed severely sagging breasts, and all my weight gain seemed to now pocket around my waist, abdomen and upper back.
By October of 2016, I had been very unhappy about my appearance for a while, and Dr. Jason Cooper was mentioned to me and came highly recommended by a friend and Physician whose opinion I trust and have valued for over 15 years. I first called Dr. Cooper’s office and spoke with the receptionist Tricia, who was welcoming and so friendly and professional, and subsequently I also spoke with Jennifer, the Surgical Coordinator. What an asset Jennifer is to the group. She is a bubbly ray of sunshine and genuinely kind and that was apparent even from our first brief phone conversation. Spurred on by the warmth of the group on the phone, I schedule and appointment and went in for a consult with Dr. Cooper in November of 2016. I went in with the normal anxiety and trepidation that comes with being a single parent that was considering any surgical procedure and consequent anesthesia. My desire going in was to discuss the possibility of a breast reduction with possible smaller implants for lift and shape (I was a sagging 40DDD by then), a tummy tuck and liposuction to my upper back. My hope was to accomplish these procedures in 1 surgery. Doctor Cooper’s staff professionally took photos of my body and made what could have been terribly embarrassing for me, much more comfortable. Again, I encountered nothing but genuine friendliness and professionalism from everyone that I encountered. I was met with kindness and care by Mrs. Emily Cooper who made it clear that she was there to support me through whatever decision I felt would be right for me, my situation and finances. I was finally able to meet Jennifer who was just as warm and genuine in person as she was on the phone. She greeted me with such positivity and hugs and true kindness and made me feel supported in whatever decision I might decide to make after I consulted with Dr. Cooper. When I finally met Dr. Cooper, I could see that his staff personifies who he is as a person and professional as well. Dr. Cooper is warm and down to earth, yet exudes humble confidence. We dialogued in a way that fostered trust and truth, with the goal being a beautiful but realistic outcome. He listened to what my ideas and hopes were and was strong enough and confident enough to offer valuable insight as to what he felt would be the best and the safest alternatives to my suggestions and took the time to explain why these were better and safer alternatives for me. Instead of 1 surgery, he suggested 2 surgeries. He recommended a breast reduction and breast lift and though in my mind the only way that I could visualize my large sagging breasts being back in their right location with firmness and shape, was to have a reduction but also implants, Dr. Copper was confident that he could skillfully lift and reduce my breasts and give me an outcome that I would love, without the implant. Because of the energy of everyone in the practice and the nature and tone of the consult, I knew that this was the right Surgeon and the right practice for me, and was able to comfortably make a final decision to have the surgery and set 2 surgical dates for 2017, that same day.
My first surgery in early 2017 was my Breast Reduction/Breast Lift, Liposuction to my back and an added Brazilian Butt Lift. I would have a 4-week recovery period before going back for my final surgery for a Fleur-Di-Lis Abdominoplasty. The procedures were done, I was monitored for an appropriate time post-operatively, and was sent home to recover the same day. My surgeries involved no hospitalization. Not only did I received calls from the RN in the practice to check on my recovery, but even on a Saturday I was called by Dr. Cooper just to check in on how I was recovering and to see if I had any questions or concerns for him personally. Between my surgery and my first follow-up appointment, I received calls checking in on my recovery from Jennifer and Mrs. Cooper as well. I never placed a phone call to the office without receiving immediate attention and responses. I had realistic expectations for and was prepared for the pain and swelling that I would experience and knew and did all the necessary things that were explained in detail pre-operatively, that I needed to do personally to help prevent post-operative complications. As a result, I had no post-surgical complication at all, was up walking and moving about well on post-op day 1, and by day post-op day 9, I was feeling like myself again and was up and about doing well after both surgeries. I received more support and care from the Doctor and staff than I could have ever hoped for. MOST IMPORTANTLY though, the outcome from all procedures was exactly what I wanted and expected. The skill and excellence of the work that was performed by the capable hands of Dr. Jason Cooper was of the highest caliber and quality. Going in I knew within myself that the looseness and poor integrity of my skin would prove to be a challenge to any surgeon, but Dr. Cooper provided me with an awesome outcome in all areas. I have watched the work of many surgeons personally, including cosmetic surgeons over many years, but I hold Dr. Jason Cooper as a preeminent Cosmetic and Reconstructive Surgeon and would HIGHLY recommend him and his practice to anyone looking for excellence and the highest quality of care and skill available here in Palm Beach County.
