I recently (Feb 2015) had the tatt2away procedure done on my arm to remove my tattoo. I've only had 50% of the tattoo removed. I'm left with a horrible scar (major regret) I now don't want to get the rest of the tattoo removed via tatt2away due to the awful scarring. Any suggestions please? I'm desperate, feeling very depressed about it

Welcome to the community. Can you share some additional details about your tattoo such as the size, is it black or color? Where is it located? Would you consider sharing a photo with the community? Have you considered laser tattoo removal?

Thanks for sharing, I am so sorry you had these results :( I believe you can remove the rest of your tattoo with laser removal since it is only black ink, and you can later have skin resurface with laser. Meanwhile you could try some silicone scar sheets I believe? Best of luck!

It is such a shame that you succumbed to this dangerous scarring procedure but to avoid further damage it is important to understand that the only safe, reliable way to remove a tattoo without damaging your skin is with a Q-switched or Picosecond laser in the hands of an experienced medical laser practitioner. I strongly urge you to ask your family doctor for a referral to a laser dermatologist who may also be able to reduce the disfigurement from the scarring with steroid injections.

I disagree strongly. I've seen many more laser procedures with much worse results. I would suggest waiting for the scar to flatten, which experience tells us it will.

Tatt2Away regret.

Tattoo is black. Located on the inside of the forearm. Have not considered laser as of yet as I want to get some advice before I try another procedure.

With laser I would imagine that tattoo is fairly simple to remove.

Try scar away. It will help remove scar. I wore night and day for couple months. Excellent results. Massage it also with creams.

Tatt2Away regret

Hello, since having the tatt2away in February 2015 I have been left feeling very depressed about the whole situation. I only had one treatment of tatt2away and now I am left with scars. I was not informed that this would happen. I was very gullible about the whole procedure. I hated the tattoo so much that I just wanted it gone, but now I'm left with scars, which I hate even more. Since having the tatt2away I have had two laser treatments to remove the rest of the tattoo. The laser used was the MedLite C6 Q-switched Nd: YAG Laser. I will be having another teaser treatment on the 20 Nov 2015. The clinic has advised me that the laser is also helping the scarring and once the tattoo is removed we will then move onto a laser that is used on scars. I have been using the silicone gel and silicone sheeting too, but I'm just so depressed by the whole situation. My wedding day is 6 months away and I'm worried I will be left with this hideous scar. Is there any way I can flatten the raised scars and help with the redness? Any advice would be greatly appreciated.

Sorry to hear that you're feeling down about your scars. I found some information that you may find helpful—  doctor Otto Joseph Placik ,says if your scars are hypertrophic, which he explains are "commonly associated with wounds that exhibit delayed healing: tissue loss, healing by secondary intention, third degree (full thickness burns), etc." then they tend to resolve on their own, however he suggests the following as an intervention to help remedy the issue:

  1. Pressure
  2. Massage
  3. Topical paper tape therapy
  4. Topical or intralesional steroids
  5. Topical silicone gel preparations or sheeting [Read more

Here is another FAQ that speaks to treating raised red scars. Keep us posted.

yes this system tatt2away should be banned. I am shocked that more people are not speaking up about it. I am so sorry. I also have been scarred. Thankfully the technician that worked on me had some integrity and suggested to only do 3 test spots. I can only guess she knew what a scam this system was and the office went out of business a few weeks after I had my procedure. 2 out of 3 test spots completely scarred. And the awfull thing is that the lumps make it difficult to do a "tattoo cover up". At least with laser even if it isn't completely effective and leave discolorations it appears like you can still eventually do a tattoo cover up, right? well let me know how it goes for you. I know this thread is old but its been a couple of years for me since the tatt2away debacle and I haven't seen too many reviews on it.

Have you considered getting your self a Dermapen and using that on your scars? It’s cheap and you can do it your self. Look into it. It’s pretty fantastic. Also I am covered in tattoos that I don’t want any more. I have almost two full sleeves. I understand where you are at.
