Huge Work Was Done on my Face, It's Taking a Lot of Time and Efforts to Recover

WORTH IT

I had a mandibular reduction surgery with chin and cheekbone cutting in late July this year. It was very complicated and highly invasive operation. My lower jaws were noticeably reduced and chin became much smaller. Also, my midface was quite prolonged, so dr. Oh fixed it as well. I was said it’d probably take me up to 8-10 months to completely recover. I’m now still quite swollen as it’s been only 2 months.

All incisions were made inside my mouth so no scars of proceeded surgeries on my face. The main purpose was to make my face look smaller and more balanced with a bit softer look. Currently, there are few issues that bother me a lot. First, is skin sagging since lot of bone was removed. Most probably I’d need threadlift. The second is my numb chin and palate and that I still can’t fully open my mouth and normally chew food.

From what I’ve heard those are quite normal side effects which are supposed to be gone within few months. I do hope it’ll improve very soon.

Overall, the result even with swelling already looks quite good. My face is noticeably reduced and I hope it’ll meet my expectations.

Update – 2 more months past

I’m 4 months postop now and feel great. After about 2 weeks from my last review my palate started tingling and by month 3 both my chin and palate were completely back to normal. Although I still can’t fully open my mouth but so far chewing improved, now I can finally eat meat and most of normal food.

Swelling gradually went down and now I have it only in the morning. I do have a little sagging as it’s impossible not to have at least some after reducing so much of bone. Hopefully it’s not too bad. Maybe I’ll get threadlift in few months.

It has taken me few weeks to start feel normal again but the result worth it and definitely exceeded all my expectations. I’m beyond satisfied and very happy. The main reason me writing a review here is to inspire people who has same issues and to thank my surgeon dr. Oh.

I researched and read every review possible before choosing him. His staff was very friendly and attentive. The after care, follow up and pretty much everything was very professional.

With the skin sagging, is it really noticeable? How does it feel? Is it when you touch/move your skin that's when you notice it?

Hi, do you have real after pictures? I mean photos comparable to the before ones, where you can see your face. I do not understand why in the after photos you are much, much further away from the camera and in 3/4. If there was an improvement, you need candid after photos.
