WORTH IT
Well, like many, many others, I've also been lurking on this site for several months. I had my consultation visit with my PS on 12/22/2015. After determining that I was indeed a very good candidate for BR, the documentation collection began. To complicate matters, effective January 1, 2016, my insurance coverage was changing from FL Blue Medicare to AARP United Healthcare. So, actually, documentation began then. The insurance coordinator at my PS office, Kristi, went above and beyond to gather the information required. She submitted my paperwork this past Tuesday and we received approval for the surgery TODAY!!!! Cost to me, $0.00... yippee!! The hospital may have a co-pay, not sure about that yet. I am in shock that it happened so quickly. I expected at least a couple of months to fret over the whole thing. The surgery scheduler will call me in the morning to finalize where Dr. Desai will do my procedure. I plan to do pictures of before and after and long the way as well. So I'm glad to be part of this group of compassionate ladies.

How many Letters did you have to get together for the insurance co?
June 14, 2017
Hello. My records from my primary care doctor plus the "before" pictures that my plastic surgeon's office took to submit to the insurance company were the only things sent. I had had intermittent neck, shoulders and back pain for quite a long time. The pix taken at the plastic surgeon's office included deep shoulder indentations and my huge breasts. I'm a small person, at 5'1", not skinny, but curvy. Don't be discouraged if they turn you down the first time, keep trying. The girls at my doctors office knew their stuff about what was needed for submission and approval. If you're at all close to Jacksonville, FL, my doctor's name is Dr. A little Desai. The practice is called North Florida Plastic Surgeons, (904) 423-1997. The website is the same as the name of the practice. I cannot tell you enough about the care, courtesy and professionalism everyone I dealt with throughout my travel to the "other side". Best of luck with your insurance. My final result was "I only wish I'd done it 30 years ago.

Mimi is almost seven months out!!! ????????????????????
HappyMimi65October 15, 2016
It's been almost seven months since my surgery. I am so happy with my decision to have this done and also extremely grateful that fate put me in Dr. Desai's oh so capable hands. His staff was beyond extraordinary. Kristi, who worked so very hard to help me get everything submitted to my insurance, is a miracle worker!! She submitted my paperwork on Tuesday and received the approval on Thursday of the SAME WEEK!! Yes, only three days!! Many thanks to the staff there, they all go out of their way to assist in any possible way. I'm telling everyone I talk to that is even mildly interested to go see Dr. Desai, he is truly an artist!! Even the pre-op admitting nurse told me that she wanted her daughter to see Dr. Desai for her BR. How's that for a recommendation?? Thank you again, so very much. ????

Hi, thank you for telling your journey. I am thinking to get my BR with Dr. Desai.
I wanted to ask if you lose any sensitivity on the nipples or the breast at all. I will need a big deal of lifting and I heard that because of that I will most likely lose sensitivity.
Hopefully Dr Desai have a different answer.
How was your experience on that sense. Also, can you share any updated pictures?
Thanks!

Congratulations on the quick approval, this is wonderful. How much of a size change are you hoping for?
Yes this would be a very nice change for you. We are the same height and close to the same weight. I was a DDD before surgery and it was miserable. I went down to a C cup right after surgery, and then to a B cup with a little more weight loss. I love it!
