I'm scheduled for brachioplasty and a breast...

I'm scheduled for brachioplasty and a breast augmentation on 2/3/16.

I have steadily lost 130lbs through diet and exercise and am ready to begin the next phase of my transformation. I started by researching surgeons in my state because I was primarily interested in the arm lift procedure. Once I selected my surgeon, I got to thinking about my sad and deflated breasts. I figured since the arms and breasts are near each other, maybe I would look into having BA.

Once I decided to explore that option, I became obsessed (like most of us do). I would love to say that I just want my cute breasts of my youth back, but they were never cute. Hopefully, this is going to change all that!

I am 37y/o, 5'10", about 190. I wish I could lose 10 more, but if not, oh well. Someday I plan to have a lower body lift, but since I have no children yet, I am waiting.

I'm getting 460cc UHP Natrelle style 45. I'm also having a circumareolar lift.

I'm currently a 32C/D.

Wow! Your weight loss is incredible! Way to go!! I'm so happy for you that you are rewarding yourself with these surgeries!
What is recovery for the brachioplasty like?
User Avatar

The brachioplasty is a bit different. I'll have compression sleeves for 4-6 months. I might have drains. No lifting over 5 lbs for 3-4 weeks. You have to be really careful because the scars for it have a tendency to heal poorly.

I'm pretty excited for my arms. They actually bother me the most!

Im 49 5'6" 165lbs
my arm lift and breast lift was done Jan 26,16.
So im at day 5. It went well and only thing now is swelling. I had it done in Upper Michigan
I choose just a lift so after skin removal i prob should have had implants but chose just lift. I was 36D now im 40C....im guessing end result 36C...im swollen so had to go up on the band...i gained about
20 lbs of fluid most after the drains were removed at day 3...
Good luck!

I'm from Michigan!

How do you like your arms? How is your recovery going? Mobility?

I'm most excited about my arms getting done.

Thanks!

You are young and that helps...first time i lost a lot in my twenties the skin wasnt so bad...now in late 40's way worse! I would love tummy tuck and thigh lift but have to save up again!

My tummy is so bad. These are great high waisted Capri workout pants from old navy. They hold it in! I made sure to take pics because I didn't chronicle my weight loss, and I regret that.

Glad to hear it's not too bad! Nerves getting me a bit.

Thanks for the encouragement. I've been getting a lot of support on here and an online breast implant forum. I don't really talk about this at work, and my family knows just the bare minimum!

32 hours!

Hi there. I'm from Michigan also and have went to a couple consults. Where can I ask did you go? How much was the arm lift and breast lift?
March 23, 2016
My surgeries were done in Upper Michigan in Marquette by Dr. Mark Geissler. The surgeries were $7000 and the Hospital charged $5000....im very happy with both...my boobs look like i have implants but i dont...so glad i went with just the lift...i was 38DD and now im 38D....let me know if you have any questions about recovery....so worth it...i had lost 180 lbs so it was needed!
March 23, 2016
Arm lift cost varies depending on how much work you need...i had an extended arm lift which is the longer scar...so can be $3000-$4000...plus hospital charge depending on how long your surgery will take...about same $3000-$4000....i got discount for having two at the same time....check Upper Michigan out if you can...

You have a similar frame to myself. I go in next Monday 2/8 for my preop and I'm scheduled for surgery the 18th. I'm 138 5 10. PS suggested I go bigger than I originally thought I wanted, 350, so I am looking at 500 cc. There wasn't a huge difference so what the heck. Plus he said if I have any extra skin and don't go big enough the saggy skin will not look good. While I'm under and if he thinks there will be saggy skin, then I'm going to tell him to add more if need be. I can't wait!

I also had brachioplasty and breast aug (and lift) at the same time and am also from MI:-) I just got to the one month mark and realised that was when I felt "back to normal". I had a pretty easy recovery pain wise. I felt my arms took longer to heal than my breasts. I just got all of the scabing off my arms and started silicone strips last week. I need a breast revision, so I have just been putting scar cream on them to determine if it works or if I'll go with silicone strips after the revision. Best of luck to you!

I just read your review! Thanks for stopping by.

Why do you need a revision? Is it the nipple? I think they look pretty even. Still a lot better than what you started with. I'm hoping for pretty boobs batwings be gone!

Yes, my areolas are different sizes because he could not pull the skin any tighter on my right breast. Apparently it will stretch and when I go back for the three month check-up, we will discuss the revision. There is also some skin/fat on my left side (under my arm) that I am not happy with, so he is going to remove that since I'll already be under.

Hi there. Spiceyfrog where did you go for your surgeries? I'm in mi as well and have consulted a couple dr's for an arm lift and implants but was told I would need a lift as well. Cost seemed pretty high but I'm new to this. Lol

I used Dr. Morris in Midland and would not recommend him. PM me if you want details. On April 30th, I have a consultation with Dr. DiNick in the Ypsilanti area for my tummy tuck and inner thighs. It will be nearly a two hour drive, but if I like him will be worth it. He was recommended by my bariatric surgeon and the fact that I could not get a consultation for two months leads me to believe he must be good....we'll see.

2 day post brachioplasty and BA

Well, I was in a lot of pain yesterday, and I could not post. Today was so much better.

My arms are bugging me more because they itch like crazy.

My breasts are super high and tight. Today we changed my dressings and it was the first chance I had to have a close look at them.

I think I will like them!

They look great! High and tight now is perfect because when they drop they'll be in the perfect place!

I'm ready for them to drop. Any higher and I think I could chew on them!
February 7, 2016
You look great! My arms were ichy too..but better now that i dont have gauze or tape...the tape was making me itch....i get little pains now and then...lots of numbness still in both arms and breasts...I very happy with all so far...i only had skin glue no stitches to remove other than on nipples..got those out yesterday....
i can finally put my shirt and jacket on myself....my armpits may need z-plasty to help mobility but have to wait and see...my scar goes right thru the middle of armpit down to elbow....no compression needed anymore so i was surprised but sports bra 24/7 for afew more weeks...
February 7, 2016
Oh...you listed $4500. Was that your total cost or did ins cover some?
User Avatar
February 7, 2016
I broke up my costs. Total cost was $9500 for the BA (silicone), periareolar lift, and brachioplasty.
February 7, 2016
Oh...ok...thats good!
Mine for extended arm lift and extended breast lift were total 12,000....

Wow, you know I got the periareola lift on one boob and a little stnipping to make smaller to match my right boob and I have yet to see my full nipple! Looks so crazy! You look great! Your breasts don't look as high as mine, maybe that's why they didn't recommend you have a band since they seem to be closer to final placement! I think your surgeon did a great job!!!

I'm so excited to see the change over time. I think I'll take photos weekly. I want them to drop, but I know I'm so fresh.

So far, I'm pleased. They are still quite numb, though.

One week update

Had my one week post op appointment on Tuesday. My surgeon is pleased with my progress, and I think they have dropped a bit since surgery already.

I'm not massaging or wearing a strap or anything. She doesn't do these things unless progress is not being made.

Overall, I'm happy with them, but can't wait to see how they look in a couple months. I looked at many reviews and saw girls trying on bras, bikinis, and new tops just a couple days post op. Unfortunately, my arm lift has made trying on clothes right now uncomfortable and so I am reduced to wearing a tank top, hoodie and sweats everyday!

I know I'll need new bras, but I have to wear my post op bra for 4-6 weeks, so I went ahead and bought a second one. I'm sure I'll size into at least a DDD, since I was a 32D.

I'm wondering when they will feel more a part of me instead of something that doesn't belong. Thoughts?

I remember the same feeling at your stage....I wanted to try on new bras so bad, but could not because of my arm mobility. I was about one month post-op when I finally made a trip to VS to get measured and was comfortably able to try on bras. As for when they feel part of you, I cannot answer because I am just six weeks and mine are still foreign. I will be drying off after a shower and they rub against my arms and I am like, what the heck is that.

You and I are like surgery twins! ;)

Right now they sort of feel like hard lumps. I can't wait for them to soften.

I want to see my arm scars, the steristrips are there so I can't get a good look.

Did you have steristrips? Did you have to wear compression garments?

At least my discomfort is at a minimum now.
User Avatar
February 12, 2016
Yes, hard lumps are a great way to describe them! This is TMI, but about three weeks ago my hubby asked when he could touch them....he said "you are like a collector's item and I cannot open the box"....lol, I should have told him they were just hard lumps he was not missing anything. Too late now, the secret is out and he loves them!
I did not have any strips, I have internal stitches and glue that seriously did not come off for an entire month. Same on my breasts, it was actually pretty gross, when it started peeling every time I took my bra off it was full of white flakes. I just recently had some stitches spit (I guess is what they call it) from my breasts. The loop part of the stitch was sticking out of the skin. I called my surgeons office and they said I could trim them back to the skin. I put it off for a couple nights because I was nervous and they really weren't bothering me. When I finally got up the courage, it was so simple, they actually just came out, I didn't even have to cut them. I presume they were dissolved on the inside, which is why they came out so easily. As for compression garments, I was not required to wear them but often wondered if I should have. I had ace bandages for the first week and that was it. I just recently started using the silicon scar strips and I feel like those are my protection, I wear them 23 hours a day and can really see a difference already! Take care!
