This is my honest and thorough review of Comfort...
This is my honest and thorough review of Comfort Zone Surgery Istanbul.
I regard the CZ clinic and Dr Manabasi separate entities for the purpose of this review. To be clear, I was treated exceptionally well by Dr Ilker Manabasi and the medical team at Istanbul Aesthetic Centre.
Background;
I have received previous surgery through Spire and the NHS so consider myself to have some knowledge and prior understanding of surgical procedure/expectation. This aided with the language barrier I’ll go on to speak about.
Booking;
Though I had some discrepancy in selecting the ideal travel dates for my procedure, I did my best to avoid overcomplicating the booking process, only contacting comfort zone when I needed to. However, the response time (in comparison to other clinics) was appalling and the administration errors troublesome. It’s worth noting that Comfort Zone will not provide formal administration/ surgical details/ confirmation emails etc until you have proved concrete flight bookings.
During discussions, I received several amended emails, adjusting errors in the booking though I had been quite clear on everything excluding dates. Told this was due to large an influx in clients, I brushed off as minor errors.
Arrival;
Collected from the airport by Comfort Zones main driver (no English) but a warm welcome and journeyed to the villa in the VIP bus advertised on the website. Though the Villa staff greeted me warmly, again they did not speak English so I spent the first few hours at the villa trying to tease information from the various struggling patients before meeting Engin. Initially Engin welcomed me to the villa, but explained little about the procedure I was due to have other than to shower his business and surgeons in praise. I did not meet Jennifer throughout my stay.
(Istanbul Aesthetic Centre) Hospital and Surgery;
I was transported to the hospital the morning of the surgery, again without an English speaking counterpart and having been gestured to sign forms at reception, provide my passport (explanation not provided), I was shown to my room and helped into surgical garments by a nurse.
I was then afforded plenty of time to study my modern room, the clean hospital ward and ring home. What I presume is on each floor, roughly 6 rooms and a team of medical staff including nurses and a medical doctor. After some time a very pleasant young nurse came to take bloods and a visual health check. She spoke enough English for us to understand each other and I was relieved to have her tend to me throughout my hospital stay.
I met Dr Ilker for the first time roughly an hour before my surgery for a consultation; I was alone without chaperone which surprised him though he was very pleasant and made me feel comfortable. Dr ilker spoke very good English. We took time to discuss my treatment and outcomes, took images and marked up my body.
Following this I quickly met Dr. ?brahim Bozkurt, the anaesthetist (this did feel slightly like a production line and I was hurried through signing the anaesthetic documents). Be prepared, the documents are in Turkish. For those who have not experienced surgery before, you are signing to confirm that the medical history you’ve provided is correct to your knowledge and absolving the surgeons of any blame should complications arise during surgery, i.e. accidental death.
Following Surgery, I was taken back to my room where I was left to re-gain consciousness alone. In my experience, (with NHS, Spire) following surgery you are usually in a holding room with several nurses monitoring progress as you awake from the anaesthetic. Most people do have uncontrollable shaking (chill) or feel sick as a side effect, so I was surprised to be left to experience this alone. Other than that, the hospital was very clean, I was fed regularly (though not to my taste) and despite the language barrier the ward staff’ were very professional, kind and helpful. Use your phone to translate requests and be polite if you wish to receive treatment in kind.
Villa and Comfort Zone Staff;
The villa itself is clean and modern, set on beautiful country club grounds with space to house 10 guests. The villa was not full during my trip which suited me though I would suggest that 10 patients plus 10 guests (20 people) would be a stretch on personal space and the ability of the nursing staff. The villa demographic is young adult (18-35) and I found it a little noisy when needing to rest post op.
The staff’ were pleasant and helpful however I would not class the Villa as an ‘Aftercare’ service. It is merely a bed, with basic food provided 3 times daily. Being so light touch, I would have preferred to stay in a luxury hotel with quality meal options and a quiet relaxing atmosphere.
I was left alone for the majority of my stay in the villa, particularly the first day and night following surgery. Unfortunately, I was rarely checked on, nor did I receive the appropriate medical attention throughout the stay apart from light aid with bandaging post shower. This was not an uncommon theme amongst other patients. Having had experience, I pushed myself through the recovery quite quickly, though I am aware that other girls were struggling without receiving the appropriate care or basic medical explanations to help calm their nerves.
I also had to request post-operative medication several times before it was provided and due to the language barrier I had to goggle most of the medication to check its usage. Only one of the five staff members understood some English. The company director (male) and sales manager (female) visited once and avoided most of communication effort from patients. Sadly, I did not receive a check-up prior to leaving, nor did the majority of other patients staying at the villa despite requesting on several occasions.
Conclusion;
With regards to my experience with Dr Manavasi & IAC alone, I would highly recommend this surgeon for BBL and Vaser Lipo. I am very happy with my results so far (roughly 3 weeks post op). My hourglass shape looks incredible. N.B. I believe there may have been some miscommunication regarding one small area but realise I should have been clearer in my requests and this is my only advice; to be very clear at consultation.
Comfort Zone is bare basics housemaid care and for the same value, a quiet room in a beautiful 5* hotel, with plenty of food options, room service etc would have sat better with me.
