I did as much research as possible before deciding...
I did as much research as possible before deciding on a clinic.
At first like most people l was attracted by the low price in Turkey. There are hundreds of clinics to chose from.
After contacting many clinics l bacame suspicious. I mean how can they do it for such a cheap price, and almost no limit to the number of grafts for the same price. And basically no appointment, no deposit, just tell them when you will arrive!
How can they all have qualified people just sitting around waiting for someone to arrive?
And they only have good reviews? Didficult for me to believe.
Also after asking all the clinics, even the more expensive ones, l find out that at all except one, only technictions do the work. Most do not even have a doctor!!
These places seemed like factories.
I decided since this is an important decision l would pay more and have a proper doctor.
I decided on AEK clinic. It is the only one where a plastic surgeon actually does the extraction and makes the channels for the grafts.
I went to lstanbul to have a FUE like 99% of the people, but after a consultation with Dr. Karadeniz decided on FUT.
Yes l know that FUE is the new procedure but both leave scars. FUT leaves one and FUE one for every hair extracted. Also the transection rate for FUE is much higher as the graft is more likely to be damaged on ectraction and they are out of the body longer so the survival rate is lower. With FUT the grafts are removed with a microscope so no damage.
Another thing, once you do FUE your donor area is thinned out, so in younger men if you would ever want a second procedure forget it. With FUT you can have a another or even an FUE at a future date.
For me it was a no brainer
Dr. K is very knowlegable and was happy to change the procedure which was scheduled for the next day.
The day of the procedure everything went as planned. The doctor speaks perfect English and tells you everything he is doing. The staff is great, very friendly and also speak some English. They extracted 3450 grafts from the strip, but, and this is the important part, more than 9,000 hairs. That means that most all the grafts had 3-4 hairs.
I am now 10 days post op and everything looks good. Now it's just wait and see.
I would highly reccomend AEK Clinic to anyone wishing to get a hair transplant done by a doctor.
He was also THE ONLY clinic that asked about my medical history.
His response to emails was prompt and the airport pick up was there waiting for me. The hotel was 5 star.
