Mid 40's Eyes Looking Too Tired - Irvine, CA
ORIGINAL POST
People asking if I'm tired, I found myself saying...
WORTH IT$530
People asking if I'm tired, I found myself saying yeah I am. But no I'm not!! It's like I'm making an excuse for my eyes. That's when I knew I had to do something. I met Dr Sepher for a consultation based on he's many good reviews. Dr. Ali Sepehr is a board-certified Facial Plastic Surgeon. I went back and forth on fillers or lower bleph. I have puffy swollen under eyes. The best choice was lower blephs, but I'm not going to lie after reading all the bad reviews it scared me to pieces!! I just could not do it even though I know I found a great Dr and I trust him ,it's not him its me type of feeling. I decided try fillers for now and take it from there. Hopefully it will do the job for a few years so that when closer to 50 I can do both uppers and lowers blephs and yes this will be the Dr I go to. I just loved he's patience with me and trust me when I tell you I talked to him several times in person and on the phone, why? Well I would read certain stuff here and I'd write down my concerns and he was always willing to help me wanted me to feel sure about whatever direction I wanted to go. Finally I knew this is what I wanted. I also took my husband with me and we both decided to do one syring each restalyn under eyes, tear trough area, Botox for our crows feet, and I also used 1/2 syringe juvaderm for my lips. Total spent $2200. (2 syringes restalyn, Botox for both of us only for our crowsfeet I forgot how many units he said it was for each of us, and one syringe juvaderm for my lips.i don't have the breakdown in front of me but I believe it was between $530-560 per syringe restalyn. I had it done yesterday and today I woke up pretty swollen very tiny bruises hardly nothing. My husband had minimal swelling and no bruising. The pics don't show the swelling but in person I feel it and I look a little diffrent. A little puffy, lol but I can't see the big round circles under my eyes. I can't wait to see finals results. I will update in a week or two with final pics. Unless I have any issues, complications, etc then I'll post sooner. The Dr advised me I would get a call within a week to see how Im doing, but if I have any questions or concerns before then to call him.

Has your ps discussed just removing the fat from under your eyes rather than a full blepharoplasty? That way leaves no scars and no stitches, I had that done years before my blepharoplasty as I had puffy bags and no excess skin. I was about 35 I think. x

Ps the surgeon goes in from the inside of your lower eyelid. My procedure didn't require stitches.

That's actually what I would've rather had just the fat removed like you had the first time. But because I'm in my mid 40's my eyes have little wrinkles you can't see them much in pics I don't know why I guess it's a good thing but in person you can see them which I'm good with they don't bother me now. The only thing my Dr did say after he removes the fat if I didn't have a skin pinch , where he would remove little bit of skin, that I would have more wrinkles aftr. I did read reviews here that happened to them and that was the reason I opted to go ahead and have lower blephs with skin pinch only to still chicken out last minute. Now I wonder what if I would've just done it maybe I wouldn't need fillers. They are expensive. Y0u were in your 30's very young so I'm sure no wrinkles. You said you had the surgey after, how did it go for you? Is it what you expected? Complications? I'm asking because I do need it but I'm just trying to get brave enough to one day do it. My pics don't show my uppers I cut off almost where the my top eyelid skin touches my eyes.its puffy up there too :(

Mine looked worse than yours at your age. I had really puffy bags. In fact, my eyes look better now then they did 20 years ago. They seem 'normal' now, some wrinkles but I'm 52 and have Botox which helps. :) I had the first surgery (laser cut under the bottom eyelid to remove fat) in California. Dr Gross that was (terrible name!) as that operation wasn't carried out in the uk at that time. It certainly helped, and I was pleased for about 15 years until my uppers needed doing too. Then I had upper and lower done (in the uk) - traditional blepharoplasty.
My mother had terrible bags under her eyes and I would have had the same if I hadn't taken the precaution of surgery. I feel normal now. The puffy bags made me look tired all the time - I can handle wrinkles but not the bags! Having both operations was the best thing I did. :) I am left with some asymmetry after the blepharoplasty as my uk surgeon was too conservative on one eye, but I fix that sonewhat with Botox. Im really glad I had both operations. Complications were zero with the fat removal via inside eyelid and complications of traditional blepharoplasty was really bad bruising. Horrible, but I bruise easily. If you find a good surgeon, blepharoplasty can make a real difference to how u feel. I feel normal now and I don't look tired all the time. x

And it's really great not to have to check the lighting when out in restaurants or wherever. Like, omg is this light casting a shadow under my eye bags?! ;)

Good info thanku, I'm glad to hear it was positive for you and that your happy with it and how much younger it made you feel and look, about the mirror part in certain lightening I know exactly how you feel I would be like no way I look this bad! Like almost not believing I look like that because not long ago I didnt. It felt like it just crept up on me. I know I can't stop the ageing process but my goal is to just try to look good for my age that's all, not older than my age. I agree I rather have wrinkles than bags, I just don't know if Botox can be put on the wrinkles under the eyes I've never asked because it doesn't bother me now, I just felt without skin pinch I'd have many more wrinkles all of a sudden and that would bother be .I've had Botox on my forehead, and crowsfeet area only. That's a question im writing down for sure for next time :)

Sorry, I didn't mean Botox under the eyes! That isn't a good idea. I meant that it raises my eyebrow at edges (injection near temples). And I do crows feet too) x

Final review- 9 days after
Much better than before for a temporary fix. After swelling went down I looked normal more like me, the circle that went all around my bottom eye is less noticeable but you can still see it closer to my nose area beginning of eyes. At least not all the way around like before which is what I was hoping for some improvement for now, I won't add more, I read reviews where people use two or more syrnges for eyes , not me, I'll stick to one and thats it. Once I see no difference then I'll proceed with the surgery. My lips look a little fuller but If you want pouty and noticeably bigger do the whole syringe. I may go back for my other half. I took many pictures where it didn't show my bags, which is a great feeling unlike before, but my goal for this is to be as accurate and capture the true detail and differnce good or bad.
Thanks for sharing your experience with us! I love that you and your husband went together! It's so nice to have that support, you know? Yes, please post your pics and husband's as well!
Did either one of you experience any pain during the procedure? How did your lips turn out?
Actually, your husbands description of what it feels like is very useful and illustrative! Men and pain are funny though - my husband's the same if he's sick, holy mackerel, call the coroner!
Maybe you can sneak a pic of your husband while he's sleeping - just kidding!
Glad to hear you both are happy with your results and keep us posted on whether you'll add that last half of your syringe!
