Nipples went back in

ORIGINAL POST

Is this normal? Inverted nipple surgery

Straightforward31273
I had inverted nipple surgery 4 days ago and there is this large bruise on my left boob. On my right there is no bruise just minimal around the nipple itself. Is this normal? What could be the causes?

Same here! You're a few days ahead of me. My bruising has subsided a lot the last day or so. My office f/up is tomorrow. Did yours improve since your post?

Inverted nipple surgery

Straightforward31273

I am crying making this post because of how devastated I am of my results. I provided a photo of what I started with, my nipples would occasionally fall completely in from wearing a sports bra all day and the left one never came out even with stimulation. My left nipple I had no sensation in it all where I could pinch and pull it at a shocking amount with no pain. My right nipple would come out with stimulation but would occasionally lay flat and rarely completely invert along with the left that mostly stayed inverted. After my procedure I was extremely happy with my results. I felt euphoric, feminine, and overall more confident because I could now consider myself looking like a women under my shirt rather than just flat like it had been my entire life. I also gained sensation in my left nipple, I'm sure it was because I have never felt air/breeze gaze upon it, it was amazing the first week. As the second week came around I noticed just over one night the change in projection, I knew that this would be one of the complications that may arise but was really really hoping it wouldn't be me. I am on my third week of recovery and my nipples have almost completely gone back to being flat. It's so devastating and embarrassing because of the amount of money I saved and spent on this procedure. During my recovery I was very cautious and even took off from work for two weeks. I don't know if it was my fault that they fell flat, or if I was assuming that how they looked directly after surgery would be how they healed. I just don't know what to do at this point because I am not only 2,000 dollars down but feel regret from thinking I could change this. Do I have any other options moving forward? When is the soonest I could get this surgery again? Would injections in my nipples be a good option? Could it have been something I did during my healing process? My doctor didn't provide any covers to help protect my nipples during the healing process, just said to not wear bras or any tight clothing. I noticed that other surgeons apply a thread through the nipple and hold it with a cup that stays for about a week after surgery once I did further research because it felt odd I didn't have any coverage to protect them. Is this an outdated process or was my surgeon right on not advising just wearing loose clothes? Any responses are helpful through this healing process because I have no where to turn for advice besides my surgeon but even then, I can't afford to get it fixed and I feel cheated of my money either way if I did reach out. Thank you.

Hi, how is your result now?

Hi, I just wanted to assure you that you did absolutely nothing wrong! I had the surgery last year and was so happy to see I finally had nipples!! I took the bandages off after 2 weeks and was gutted to see that they had completely inverted once again. I had paid extra to have something called Alloderm put in which supposedly was the gold standard, the "guarantee " they would not re-invert. I am in exactly the same situation as you are. I don't know whether it's worth trying the surgery again, if I decide to do it, should I go to the same surgeon or someone else? I have read other people say they had to have the surgery twice as it didn't take the first time so that gives me some hope. At any rate, you need to heal completely before you make a decision so relax, take your time and decide what's best for you. But please know, you had nothing to do with the surgery not working, it happens. I don't know your age but let's say 40 as the example. Your nipples have been inverted for 40 years, obviously they want to go back to the way they were, that's their natural position, the position they are used to being in. I didn't get a thread or anything like that nor have I heard of anyone else getting that. Best of luck to you!!
