I had the Pearl Fractional done a week ago today. I am not sure of the results as of yet. I had the procedure done mainly for lines above and below my mouth area. I have good skin but am 50 years of age so do have wrinkles around the eyes as well.

The whole procedure wasn't very painful. Maybe a 2 on a scale of 1-5. I had numbing cream put on my face for 45 minutes. I also had a hose with very very cold air to blow on the area as the fractional was being used. I was very bloody and swollen the first evening but the bleeding stopped by the next morning. I was bright red until a few days ago. I used the vinegar/water rinse every hour for five days.Followed by vaseline. I have now started using products given to me by my provider. I still use the vinegar wash when my face starts to feel itchy.

The redness is still around but I can go out in public now. I just look a bit sunburned. The swelling is gone now.

Overall it was a pretty easy experience. Not something I would look forward to doing again but not as bad as I was expecting. The lines have improved a bit but not as much as I thought they would. My provider told me to wait until I am three months out to see what the final results will be.

I may need to get some filler as well but I am going to wait to see if it is needed. I would be interested to hear if anyone else had this procedure for lip lines and if they saw better results months after the procedure.

It has been nearly a month since I had the Pearl Fractional treatment and I would say it was worth it.  I have healed completely and my skin does look new and refreshed. The lines around my mouth are improving every day. I might still have a small amount of filler in that area but overall I am pleased with the improvement. I do think anyone interested in this procedure should plan on having at least five days of down time in order to heal. I could not have gone back to work before that time but I have a public service job. I was very careful about doing the vinegar wash and putting vaseline on my face. I kept that process going even after my doctor told me I could stop. It helped with the itching. I was ready to go back to work after 10 days. I could have gone back before that time but my face was still pretty red. The concealer they gave me to try really didn't hide the redness.  I am excited to see if the lines around my face improve even more. My doctor is telling me to wait on filler for a couple of months to see my final results.  I did not have the procedure done beneath my eyes although I have seen others that have had good results in that area. But I have also seen some complain that the procedure made their wrinkles worse. Overall the minimal amount of pain was worth it. I would encourage anyone who is interested in this procedure to do their homework so they will know what they are getting themselves into. I would also encourage them to research their doctor because I think that really makes a difference.

Your input was very helpful. I am on day 6 and I am still so red! It appears that the lines above my mouth have not changed at all...by your comments, it gets better? The way I look today, I am thinking I won't be ready to step out for another 2 weeks. Not much changed in redness these past couple of days. Any words of encouragement?

It has now been two months and the lines around my mouth are better. They aren't completely gone but are less noticeable. I have noticed more lines around my eyes recently. I am not sure what is going on with that area. I didn't have the pearl done around my eyes. My doctor told me my skin will keep changing for a few months so perhaps this is part of that change. Did you have pearl done in the eye area?

Hello, I was wondering if your Pearl procedure worked out the way you hoped for? Please let me know because I just had my chin and upper lip done 8 days ago and I see no change yet. Thank you

I had the Pearl Laser Fractional done at UCSF on May 16th. It will be 8 days tomorrow and I see no change after this procedure. I'm still very red but was only told to use cetifil gentle cleaner for your face and gauze to wash the are about 3 times a day. It's so itchy that I feel like I want to wash it again and put more Aquafor cream on again. I'm light olive skinned and I have to see the Dr in SF on Thursday. If I had some numbing cream I would use it for sure. It doesn't hurt just so itchy. I hope I see results in a few weeks. I was told you need to do the fractional laser twice about 8 weeks apart for a second time to get the best results.
