Four Days Post-Op and Doing Great

I am already four days out, and can't believe how smoothly it's going. I was sure that I'd be that ONE patient to have some sort of weird issue, but so far, so good. I came home the day of my surgery, put my make up on, hung out, watched a movie with my husband that night, and overall had a really normal weekend. I went to my son's basketball game the next day. Every day has gotten progressively easier to move and less stiffness. If you're worried about pain, I'll say it's more like being sore - like, "I over-did it at the gym big time" type sore - not agonizing kill-me pain. Honestly the fact that I *do* lift weights 4 days or more a week is probably why I was maybe more sore than others might be. My pec muscles are pretty strong, so I'm sure that added a little extra 'ouch' to it. I only took one actual pain pill I think - the ibuprofen was enough, which I did NOT expect. The ONLY issue I had was that I had palpitations the following day - but that happened to me after I had my kids, and I apparently just get harmless PVCs so that's unique to my fussy body. I did have one question about when to start the ibuprofen and called the after-hours number and Dr. Fata called me back within 5 minutes. Over all this entire thing was sooooo much less traumatic than I expected. If you are a giant hot anxiety mess like I am, don't let that put you off from doing something for yourself. Just find the RIGHT doctor. Trusting in my choice of doctor was key to getting through it. I am very happy so far and can't wait to see the final results. My check up is in a couple days and I'm very interested in seeing how I'm healing. I cannot say enough that if you're anywhere close to Indy, do NOT look anywhere other than Dr. Fata and the staff at Renaissance. The Carmel Surgical Center was awesome, too. I loved the nurses - they really helped me relax and joked with me (I tend to joke around, more so if I'm nervous), and it was just the best experience! Cannot wait to rock some new bikinis this spring break!

I am so glad that I listened to my gut. I had...

I am so glad that I listened to my gut. I had consulted another doctor, and just didn't walk away feeling sure it was the right one. If you feel that way, please listen to your gut- there is a reason! I called Dr. Fata's office after reading a lot of great reviews here. After chatting with Donetta (I am pretty sure I'm spelling that wrong) and feeling like she was super down-to-earth and fun, I already felt better. I reserved judgment though, and was very curious how it would turn out. I wondered if he would concur with the first surgeon's recommendations. (Spoiler: he did not. I now firmly believe that the first surgeon's ideas would have led to problems or complications...but I digress.)

I really liked what I had read on Dr. Fata's website. Their focus is on safety, and on making sure that each patient is comfortable and feels heard. For a small $50 consultation fee? Absolutely worth looking into.

Here is my impression, but first a back ground. I am an over-thinker with anxiety about stuff like I get paid for it (I do not). I was sure that although I really, REALLY wanted to fix my breasts that I would die. If I didn't die, I'd have some sort of terrible complication. Whatever, anxiety is fun. It's what led me to this site, so I guess mixed blessing? I was once a B cup and fine with it. Then kids, then nursing, then just not...me anymore. Working out? I'd notice. Shopping for clothes? I'd notice. They do not make a bra small enough, or a push-up bra or Miracle bikini good enough, to fix what ails me. I want this because I love me, and not because I don't.

My consultation:

My first impression was "well-oiled machine." The office ladies were friendly, professional, courteous - but also cool to chat with. They obviously know what they're doing, and have been working together well for awhile. I was led back to the exam room which was clean, spacious, and cheerful. I didn't have to wait long. After asking me some basic questions, the nurse/asst said the doctor would be in. I waited maybe 3 minutes, if that. Dr. Fata is clearly intelligent, respectful, and very, very knowledgeable. He took lots of measurements, and made his recommendations. He suggested a conservative size of silicone (my choice) to be placed submuscularly. (I'm pretty fit, and on the petite side.) I tried on sizers and liked the bigger size - and he even showed me the guideline based on my measurements. He said I did not need a lift. (The previous surgeon wanted a bigger size that would not have fit my body, and a lift, too.) I asked a lot of questions and he patiently answered all my questions. They use the rapid recovery program which really sounds awesome, and the doctor and staff concur that it's not a tough recovery for their patients.

Bottom line: He is an ethical, responsible, and very good doctor. If I had said, no, I want something much bigger, he just would *not* have done it. He wants good, lasting results, that don't have problems. Guess what? Me too! His follow-up is excellent. Lots of visits to ensure that things are healing with no issues - and if it's years later, that no new issues have arisen.

My anxiety vanished - which for me is really unusual. I really trust that he knows what he's doing and I'll end up another satisfied patient. I called back today to schedule my surgery - but they closed at noon. It's my fault for not checking! Now I have to wait until next week. I doubt I'll follow up with pictures, but I am sure I'll post again after I'm done. I am hoping for mid-February. My vision is to chill out and heal up while watching the Walking Dead.

If you're in this area, or near this area, do yourself a favor - check out Dr. Fata. I really liked everyone there and I'm really excited - instead of nervous. There's a huge difference!
