I'm 53, female, and have been thinking about botox...

I'm 53, female, and have been thinking about botox for awhile. Here in Kansas City, we have a nationally known plastic surgeon. I talked to my beautician about permanent eyeliner. He said he got botox and Restylane from Dr. Lamb.He is nationally known and was on the cover of a medical plastic surgeon journal. I had spoke to my eyelash specialist (I have eye lash extensions), and she said she refers everyone to Dr. Lamb. His wife does the permanent makeup, he does the fillers, botox and tummy tucks or lipo. The whole procedure took less than 20 minutes. I did a full set of botox, crows feet, between the brow and forehead.

I can feel it stretching., today, like a tightening. I can see a difference. My photos are so/so. In 3-5 days, I'll update the photos. The procedure felt like little bee stings. The one that hurt the most was the crow's feet near the eye. Today there is a slight bruise on the right eyebrow area. I am wanting to smile, but nervous about messing up the botox, so I kind of half smile, haha. I can already see a smoothing out, and lifting to my face. I'm very pleased, and will have botox again 4 months from now.

Thanks for sharing your experience and photos!

Great analogy - that Botox injections felt like bee stings. You mentioned that you had been considering having Botox injections for awhile - what made you decide to move forward? Are you still considering the permanent eyeliner? Let me how it goes if you do - honestly, it sounds like a dream come true. Imagine waking up looking like you just had your makeup done!

Yes, please update your photos when we're ready, love to see more!

My male beautician on weekends, dresses in drag. I love him dearly. He and I were talking about temperament eyeliner, and he said, "Did you ever get botox?" I don't look my age,and if I use my $$$ serum nightly, it is not a permanent but temporary solution. He was surprised i didn't use botox, so I went home, got on the phone, and made the appointment...haha. I knew who the doc was already. When I run out of serum, and don't use it, my wrinkles come back. I knew with botox, they'd not come back and it would erase years. I can't stand the wrinkles between my brows. On permanent eyeliner, well,I hate having to buy eyeliner every other month. And there's always one eye I mess up, and i have to redo. I really don't like applying eyeliner, but I want my eyes to pop. I have a friend, who admitted to having her lips tinted, by my doctor's wife, yet she lives all the way into Kansas. Imagine that? So I know i'm getting my lips tinted.I hate applying lipstick. ...and there is starts. Right? First botox, then a pout, permanent eyeliner, lip tinting. Not in that order.I'm getting my eyeliner in May. Then the chin injection, I have always hated my chin. I hide behind it. And my stomach has c-section damage. Every month something. Why can't I become the woman I want to be? Which is what bought me to botox. I admire Kerry Washington in Scandal. She is drop dead goregous. I know i can't be her, lol on look like her, but i can be the best I can be and become the woman I want to be.

Amen to that! That's all we can do is be who we want to be. Kerry Washington is beautiful! But I bet you $10 she has things about her she'd like to change too.

Keep us posted on your journey and be sure to share more photos! Love to see your results!

I love Dr. Lamb! I moved from K.C. area about ten years ago and was happily surprised to see him mentioned in this post. We are now moving back and I'll become a patient again. And, despite his reputation, he is reasonably priced!

I love Dr. Lamb. I'm going to go back and have him pump up my lips. He is fabulous. I don't know about his reputation. But I wouldn't go to anyone else.

Day 5-A 30 year old is in my mirror

Wow, what change. Today is day 5. I glanced in my bathroom mirror last night, and saw a 30 year old woman, not a 53 year old. My crows feet, gone, only a little around the very corner or the eyes are present. My forehead feels slightly tight. My smile, I've figure out how to do it without making crows feet. ha ha. It's kind of a narrowed smile, not stretching my face. I can smile, though.

My side effects were minimal, no headache from botox, only allergies from outside. I stayed away from the gym for 2 days, like my dr. told me to. I do use vitamin c serum, and sephora's anti aging lotion. I lightly dab the area where the botox is. I'm so pleased with the results. The area between my eyebrows, nearly wrinkle free...try to do that with a wrap or mask. You can, but the results are short lived. I'm so pleased I decided to get botox. And, it has become a little secret. If people say I have beautiful skin for my age, and I heard that at the grocery store yesterday, I said, "It's Lamb Serum products, check it out. The stuff is amazing." With a nod to Dr. Lamb, my plastic surgeon.

I'm so glad you're loving your results! Your skin looks so nice and smooth yet natural. I love it!

What a wonderful compliment you received at the grocery store - how have your family and coworkers reacted? Think you'll continue to have the Botox injections?

I work from home. It is now 6 days in. I gained 4 pounds temporarily. I went to my medical doctor who put me on Phentermine, and I can say I lost 9 pounds in 4 days. My lines between my brows are gone. I can still feel the tug of botox between them. I've been job training from home, so I've not seen anyone. I am going to an event on the 4th. Weight loss, great skin. I also figured out how to half smile. It comes in handy. lol.I'm sold, and I am planning on getting it every 5 months or so.

Good luck at your event! You'll be turning heads, I'm sure! Post a photo of that handy half smile! I'm sure others in the community would love to learn how to master it!

I feel a little tug of tightness going across my forehead and between my brow. Sometimes I look in the mirror and the wrinkles between my eyebrows are almost gone. Sometimes, though, they are prominent to me, atleast. It's that second I get on Realself to see if I'm normal. I can also feel a tightness on the side of my eyes. I plan on calling my PS to see if I'm healing correctly and will go for a follow up visit Friday. The way to smile without crows feet is to slightly smile, but don't become too expressive. I feel this only works if you have botox, though. I'm really happy with this so far and i'm going to keep it up.

I had botox for my daughter wedding and was very pleased. However, I watched my friend get her fillers above and below her lips and I'm gonna tell you, not so pleasant. Going thru the lips and around them was horribly painful. I then went with her to get laser around her chin and sides of face, again, ouch! Just thought I'd give you some insight.

Yeah, my beautician had his lips done...Not a piece of cake. But I'm ready. I'm going to get the chin injection too. I hate my chin.

I go tomorrow. I have slight minor ptosis, but I've had it for years. I've always hated it. I'm going to see if there's anything he can do.
