Who & Where: Dr. Kurley, Champaign, IL
What I wanted to achieve: larger breasts that feel & look real but aren’t obvious
Why: to feel complete & no longer wear padded bras
How: Rapid recovery under the muscle, via inframammary crease incision, 240cc filled to 270cc saline Ideal Implants
My stats: 36 years old, 135lbs., 12 BWD went from an A cup to....maybe C? Time will tell!
My personal experience with the rapid recovery method wasn’t the best. Others might have a better/more “rapid” actual recovery, but mine was not. Constant pain & tightness for a solid 3 1/2 weeks that ibuprofen & ice did little to ease. I have a high pain tolerance, but this was awful! It was never under a 3/4 on the pain scale until close to 4 weeks out. I’m glad I sought out Dr Kurley for his many years of knowledge and expertise, and I trusted him fully, but goodness sakes I wish he would have prescribed some kind of pain management.
Pain aside, he did a nice job. I had a couple snags with the office with their scheduling and obtaining my extended Ideal warranty plan (Do your OWN research on warranties and make sure you’ve got what you want!). My incisions are twice as long as I thought they would be (and was told) for saline implants, so hopefully some scar therapy will make them diminish.
I asked for a modest augmentation, and modest is what I received. I truly wish I’d have gone the next size up. I’ve seen other gals mention you lose a little volume going under the muscle, and while I’m not sure if this is true, I definitely feel it is. I personally wore “rice sizers” with the same volume and they were larger than these implants. I wanted to ask about this during my pre-op appointment but Dr Kurley was obviously in a hurry that day and talked me out of it. He did allow me to try on the next size up and at the time they seemed too big (I didn’t know I’d be losing volume under the muscle) Personally, i think I moved too fast, he moved too fast, and in retrospect I should have scheduled a second consultation either with him or another PS just to ease all my questions about the process and my suggested size. I am grateful, however, to have more volume than ever! After they’ve settled I hope I’ve achieved 2 cup sizes up!
At my 4 week follow up appointment, he gave me a small bottle of cocoa butter with vitamin E to use while I massage my incision sites to break up scar tissue that’s happening. He also instructed me to continue pushing them down and inward, and mentioned I can sleep however I like, and wear any bra (or not at all!) that I prefer. I’ve purchased some nip covers from JCPennys, and a couple non-wired non-padded bras & sports bras. I’m really looking forward to getting properly sized and I’m excited to see my final result!
