Getting back on my bike!

It has been a long time since my last update. I am healing well. Having periodic bouts of swell hell. Do not regret the decision to have the surgery.
Two weeks ago, my doctor released me to swim and ride my bike. I have a sprint triathlon in August. My bike ride went well. I was able to go into the drops on my road bike with no problem. It felt kind of weird because my tummy roll was not hindering me.
Swimming didn't go as well. It was all I could do to swim 50 meters without stopping. I eked out 400 meters. My scar didn't like the swim. It was red. Swimming really stretched my torso. I swam again yesterday. I did much better but my scar was red again. My stomach has been tight since then. Using muscles I haven't used in a while.
I am going to keep training for my Tri. I am going to listen to my body and not over do it. It is a sprint Tri and I didn't have to pay a lot for the race. If I have to skip the race, it won't hurt too much.
Triathlons taught me to run my own race and not worry about the people faster than me. I have to keep reminding myself to heal at my own pace and not to compare my results to others. I look amazing!

Wow you do look amazing! Sounds like you are kicking ass! Good luck on your triathlon next month! Can't wait to hear all about it....you are not the first person to mention how difficult swimming is either. Lots of ladies are saying how weird it feels...I haven't tried yet lol

Saturday was my third time swimming 400 meters or more. It was easier and I didn't feel bad afterwards. Now I have to do more. Still not sure about the upcoming Tri. I will keep tri'ing.

Lol! Love how you worded that :) I have tried swimming since I last posted that and it wasn't too bad. I didn't feel it much in my abs, but more so in my chest.

Shopping in my closet

User Avatar

Made it through my second week at work. I had to go home early a couple of days and recline.
My body is still healing and I have a few open areas on my tt line. My breast still has a few scars. This has stopped me from shopping for new bras and clothes. I have been shopping in my closet though. I am rediscovering clothes that I thought were lost to me. One girl at work is so jealous of the old clothes I am wearing.

1st day back to work

I took over 3 weeks off because I wanted to go back to work with no issues. Whatever! I was fine in the am, but the afternoon was difficult. I was so tight. It was the first time I wasn't able to recline if I felt bad. I only lasted 6 hours and didn't accomplish as much as I thought I would. Tomorrow is another day!

I had a great weekend before going back to work. My third sister came in town with her husband and dog. We had a wonderful visit. She is a medical assistant. She removed my spitting stitches.
Although I am one year older, we looked like twins growing up. Life changed that. My PS brought it back! She was happy for me but said that now she has to step up her game! Love my sisters.

Finally got pic collage. Photo is my first attempt.

It's great to see how far along you've come! Hope you continue healing well. I'm 12 days PO today, drove for the first time. Hope I don't get those spitting stitches

Wow, you are doing well. My spitting stitches didn't cause any issues. They were just irritating. I drove at 14 days. My older sister wouldn't let me drive before then. In my fifties and she is still telling me what to do

Sorry to hear the afternoon was difficult for you. I went back at 6 weeks and I completely understand what you mean when you say you just wanted to recline back! So I can't imagine how you felt at 3 weeks! So glad you managed to get through your day though! Good job on your first collage! You are looking great!

Hoping tomorrow is better. I don't see how people go back after less than 2 weeks. I guess you do what you have to do.

I guess...I would think it would be super hard, but some ladies make it seem so easy lol!

Hey! How was your first week of work?
User Avatar

Tough but productive! I had a major project that had to be completed by close of business today. Tuesday was rough and I had to leave early. Wednesday, I tied a lot of loose ends before the changeover could be started. Yesterday and today were long but I was able to finish the project. I am glad the weekend is here. I am swollen and need to stay off of my feet. Next week will be a lot easier.
