Shew! What an emotional roller coaster ride. Let me share some of my story...I am 43 years old...had my first boy 2 weeks after turning 18 and second boy at 21 both c section. I also had a tubal reversal and then later (oct of 2016) a hysterectomy. ..are you counting yet? This poor belly has been opened 4 times! So needless to say my belly is shot. This last surgery left me with a small superficial hernia due to weak abdomen. ..sigh go figure. July 29 2017 my general surgeon went in laproscopic to fix hernia and lo be hold could not fix it due to severe diastasis. My luck! So a realself stalker I have become teehee Went for a PS consult and was convinced he could help so here is where my journey shall be recorded.

Hmmmm.. I would say just the usual.. stock up on food for the next couple of weeks. It’s helped that I set up by “mini bunker” downstairs in our house. I stocked it with every outfit and necessity that I thought I might need. Thankfully I had help from my husband and daughter. Although they are the absolute best at taking care of me- they aren’t the best at finding things that aren’t right in front of them - bless their little hearts lol :) So having everything in one place was a life saver. I lined the bed with a mattress protector and chucks.. (I actually used doggy pee pads) they were cheaper- and really came in handy. Also.. I bought 2 body pillows from target..like $6 each. They were my everything!! From getting comfortable in the bed.. to laying/leaving in a good position on the couch. Let me know get concerns that you have, and I can too you what worked for me. Don’t worry!! Everything will work out fine for you too ;)

Omg the typos are insane.. :/. I meant *let me know what concerns that you have, and I’ll let you know what worked for me

Lol thanks...I almost feel like I am in denial...like it isn't really happening...of course that could have something to do with dad being on hospice so my surgery date could very well get yanked. I chose to go ahead and get all this done due to having to fix the hernias and I am driving myself crazy with nerves ...it's abad time I know but I am a full steam ahead kind of person lol

I completely understand wha you mean Fixin2change. I’m so sorry to hear about your father. He’s in my prayers. My grandfather passed away 2 weeks before my surgery.. and I had that moment of.. am I really going to do this right now?? But I’ve already arranged it with work and my husband/daughter.. it was a do it now.. or wait until the first of the year type of decision.. I’m glad that I decided to go ahead. I’m sure things will work out the way that they are suppose to for you. Trust in your surgeon and do as much as you can ahead of time.. everything is going to be ok

Your gap will be no problem. I thought maybe I had a 3-5 inch muscle gap... but I will find out tomorrow at my post op appointment. I'll let you know. They said I broke his record of how far my muscles were separated and had to be sewn back. I wonder if you will break my record lol girl these babies can wreck havoc....
September 26, 2017
Lordy don't I know! The only reason I even know how far apart is because of the attempted hernia repair with laproscopic. Yes...let me know how far apart yours was. How is your incision looking?

I went in today and my PS said he repaired my muscles at 15 CM he said the max he had ever fixed was 12 CM. I can't really see my incision because it is covered in tape. And will be for two more weeks. But the doc said all seemed to look good today. I'll keep you posted.

Holy mackeral..you gotta be sore. I keep thinking of how far they have to pull mine back to and just cringe! Glad you are doing good and thanks for keeping me posted...keep up the good rest girlie!

Am wondering what all to buy that you all found helpful that the ps didn't tell you to get. I know me...I'll over prepare and get none of what I actually need lol

Baby wipes, toilet riser from Amazon, 100% cotton t shirts to put under the binder, and rent/borrow/buy an electric lift recliner. Start eating pineapple a week before surgery to help with swelling. Good luck!

For me the shower chair was worth every penny!!! I bought mine on eBay and it was shipped right to my door. Milk of magnesia stool softener... I used it once and omg girl it's worth it. I haven't been in a recliner I am in my bed with two king size pillows and back rest pillow from walmart. A pillow under my knees and body pillows at my sides. I can position any thing I want to move and it's awesome being in my own bed this way. Oh and something I didn't count on was not being able to wipe my backside lmao lord girl it's hard to reach to wipe. I seen someone had some sort of a doohickey for that... I would get one had I known. I have been washing in antibacterial body soap too to help prevent after surgery infection. I got ensures to take in case I didn't feel like eating but needed to take a pain pill. Easy stuff... if I think of anything else I'll let you know... btw I got my body pillows on clearance at target for 4 bucks each lol some can't be in bed.... I love my bed!!!

You need a "go girl " device google it I ordered from amazon but they are sold in stores it's a small object that allows you to stand up and urinate over the toilet (like the guys lol) similar you are going to have to pee quite a lot 1st 2 days it's very helpful as it's going to hurt to bend (that was a life saver for me ) you I'll need your arnica pills for the bruising and a good garment that's it for me ...the go girl is a Must
September 30, 2017
The go girl sounds like an amazing piece of equipment! Must get.!thanks so much!

Yes most people buy toilet risers which you still have to bend and sit the go girl is much more convenient and cost no more that $10 bucks , the toilet riser to me isn't necessary because once you will actually need to sit (for bowel movement ) by then it will be day 3-5 and sitting will be much easier to use your own toilet stool
