This site and reviews helped me a lot throughout my procedure so I'd like to share my wonderful experience.
I was 23 when I got the procedure, wanting it for about 5 years. I asked my gyno who she recommended, and booked a consult with Dr. James Romanelli in Huntington, NY. I honestly didn't do much research into choosing a surgeon. I made sure he was board certified and chose him because he was the cheapest option. Obviously, this isn't the best way to choose a surgeon! However, he was amazing, as was every person in his staff from nurses, to the front desk! I know he didn't specialize in labiaplasty but I told him I preferred the wedge method and he listened and did a great job.
Day of surgery: I was so excited...I went under general anesthesia and woke up freezing cold. After about ten minutes I got out of there. I had no after effects of anesthesia, I wasn't loopy or tired. I went home and Dr. Romanelli called me hours later to make sure I was okay.
1-week post op: My pain never went above a 4/10 with just Advil for two days. I slept on my back for the first week. I had no bruising and minor swelling and consider myself extremely lucky. I was walking normally by day 3. I did have problems sitting though, and recommend being very careful getting in and out of cars, because I thought I ripped stitches moving too fast!
I noticed a small tear that they couldn't do anything about, but eventually, it somehow mended itself. So if you have a tear it's possible it will heal itself! At around 5-weeks, I felt I was completely back to normal
I also noticed at my 9-week post-op, I told my doctor that where he stitched by the clitoris was sensitive, hard and painful. He told me to massage it and a few days later the scar tissue softened tremendously, and it became painless eventually. The little knots (from sutures that are noticeable during healing) began to soften and disappear as well and continue too.
