Getting my Body Back! - Houston, TX

ORIGINAL POST

On May 6th, I had a mastopexy (breast reduction)...

On May 6th, I had a mastopexy (breast reduction) with removal of my 12 year old saline implants and replacement with new silicone implants. She closed both breast pockets to bring the breasts back in (they were far apart- I nursed all 3 of my kids and when I did, my breasts got huge so the pockets were very stretched out).

I also had a tummy tuck with muscle repair and fat injected into my face to restore lost volume in my checks and folds beside my nose and mouth.

The procedure was long (my surgery lasted 14+ hours). I stayed 2 days in the hospital. I am PO day 17 and had my stitches removed today. Everything is looking good so far!

Before getting my surgery done, I had gotten back in shape and lost all of my baby weight. I do cross fit and love to exercise. No matter how hard I worked at the gym, I always had a "pooch" despite having carved out abs along the sides of my tummy. My breasts were saggy too and, after losing my weight, you can actually feel the saline implant just under the skin along the underside. Plus, when I would lay down, they were practically in my armpits! My belly button was super stretched out too, which I just hated!

i also had mastopexy and implants and facial fat. loved it! you look great! how do you like your face? where did she inject it? i want TT. tell me about your pain etc

She did my cheeks and the folds beside my mouth and nose. I was freaked right after surgery b/c I did not look like myself. I was swollen and I was worried I made a mistake but now it looks awesome. I wish she had done more!! :) TT is painful, way more than the mastopexy or implants.

thanks for your input. i had no difficulty with mastopexy and implants. and i just love the fat, and now see places i could have more but it is better to want more than be overfilled. that is a major problem! yes, i see where TT is painful. that scares me. i do not need a lot done, so might ask if i really need muscle plication or not.i am 11 weeks post op and very happy. meantime, you are looking wonderful and now you have whole new body to be proud of.

You look great! You WILL get back to your workouts, just listen to your body. I got the go ahead at 6 weeks, but wasn't really ready til 8 weeks. Ran a 1/2 marathon at 10 weeks... I will say sometimes I still get sore at my MR site - but it's just annoying, not really painful? I play tennis, lift weights, run.... I'm not as fast as pre-op, but I get the mental benefit of working out, and bc of the surgery, I look so much better :)

I'm trying to imagine when I'll be able to go back to cross fit and it feels like NEVER! I'm sure I will though but I know it will take a while. I'm going to start out light and just see how it feels. I keep thinking, a few months is nothing in the grand scheme of things.

It's really not. I know how hard it is to be patient, bc working out is such a HUGE part of who you are... But for me, the tummy never changed even WITH all my crazy working out. So, it IS worth it. I lost some fitness, but am truly flat :) A great trade off, I think! And, a fun challenge for me getting it back!

in looking at an abdomen and workouts, there are two things to consider. one is to strengthen the actual muscle. that can be done. however, the other is to get rid of the fat blob overyling the muscle. no amount of abdominal exercises will get rid of flab, because flab cannot be strengthened. and most times flab is not "meltable" because we diet in such a way as to prevent fat loss, and instead we inadvertently end up with muscle loss. so the TT gets rid of the fat by actually cutting it out and removing a big section of fat with overlying skin. the weakened muscle is also sewn together. so we often say we worked and worked our abs, but that will not give the result, because that fat needs to be cut out, cannot be exercised out the way we usually diet. we stop our fat burning hormones from being produced by the way we diet.

PO Day 18

My stitches are out but I'm still swollen. There is a small accumulation of fluid around my TT incision in the center but the doc seems to think it is small and will resolve itself. I can't fit into all of my clothes because of the swelling but I think that's totally normal so I'm not worried.

I was worried that she made my nipples too low but she assures me that they will rise and I stand up straight and my skin stretches out. Oh, how I wish I could stand up straight!!! I'm so tired of the pulling feeling and my back hurts from hunching over. All in time, all in time...

I had my saline implants removed for silicone and I love the way these feel! They are so much more natural feeling, and lighter! I also had them reduced by 50cc so they are a tad smaller. The scars around my nipples are so thin and I'm really happy with that.

Other than that, I miss working out and my poor husband is getting tired of bearing the heavier weight of the household responsibilities but that too will pass.

You sexy Mamacita! I like the way your boobs are. I like how they are close but have a natural slope in the middle. It's early but mine seem far apart. They were before, of course, but with the implants and being hard, they don't move together in a sports bra. Maybe that will change when they settle. You look awesome and are gonna have perfect results!

Thank you! My first set of implants (12 years ago) were saline and were further apart. Part of this surgery was reconstructing the breast pocket to insure they stay closer together. She did all kinds of inner stitching on the sides to basically pin them in place laterally.

U look great. Your bb is small. Looks perfect.

Thank you! You know, when I first saw it, i was worried it was TOO small. Now that I'm less swollen, and the scabs inside it are gone, I'm feeling better about it. Thanks for the reassurance!

PO Day 24

Slowly, but surely, I'm gtting back to work and getting a little straighter. I'm still tender and sore and needing Advil or Tylenol 3 every day. I'm sleeping more flat too. My tummy is swollen above my incision but the fluid that was there seems to have gone. Normalcy still seems like a million years away but I know it WILL come. :)
