I have been thinking about getting a mommy...

I have been thinking about getting a mommy makeover over the past year. I have 4 children ages 12-2 and after each pregnancy I lose the weight and get down to around 150 pounds. This last year I worked hard at eating and exercising and lost my weight all to gain it back and topped the scale at 190 in March with a stressful job. I lost hope and motivation. I got down to 185 and have been that weight until I started my diet. After 8 weeks I have lost almost 20 pounds with 25-30 to go. I contacted Dr. Basu's office for a consultation and was advised it be best to wait until I'm within about 10 pounds of my desired weight. Vivian was going to follow up with me the 1st of December to see where I am on my weight loss. We discussed possibly doing the procedure before the end of year so I can take 3 weeks off work over December and January. Now I am really motivated to keep losing so I can have my procedures done. I started a new job about 2 months ago and need to find out when would be the best time to take off work. Pictures before the weight loss.

Thank you for sharing your journey with us, and congratulations on your weight loss, that is really inspiring. What are you doing to lose the weight? Whatever it is, it seems to be working. Good for you!

Weight loss before mommy makeover

So for the past 2 months I have been doing quick weight loss to lose weight. I have done this program 2 other times with successful results. The first time was 15 years ago to lose weight before my wedding and then again in April 2011 after working out and eating healthy and wasn't seeing the weight come off. At that time I weighed approximately 175-180 and got down to 150 and kept it off until I got pregnant with baby #4 in November 2012 and she was born August 2013. In January 2014 my work did a biggest loser challenge and I started working out and eating healthy and went from 175 to 150 and was feeling good. Then I got promoted July 2014 and work got hectic and I went from working out in the gym during lunch to eating lunch at my desk and eating poorly and the pounds came back faster and more than ever before. By the time January 2015 rolled around I was at my heaviest and by March I hit an all time high at 191 pounds!!! I knew what to do but I wasn't motivated and to top things off by the end of March was laid off due to the oil & gas economy. Over the summer I was able to get down to 185 but couldn't get past that. Flash forward to July I was starting to get motivated. I was sick of the flabby body I was living in and decided to get back on the program. I started a new job about the same time I started my diet and have been doing great. I am currently down to 167 and I am not stopping. I am not exercising, just eating on plan and taking my supplements. When I hit a plateau then I will add exercise. My goal is 140 before I get a MM. I will post pictures soon so you can see a side by side comparison. I am hoping and praying I can get my procedure done this year. Once I lose another 15 pounds then I will make my appointment for consultation. I am leaning towards Dr. Basu to do my MM so any ladies out there that have used him I would love to hear about your experience.

I am in a similar situation! What weight loss plan are you doing? I'm tempted to go ahead with my surgery and then focus more on weight loss since I will be way more motivated. My boobs and belly won't budge no matter what I do so it becomes very defeating when I try and lose weight. My belly was the one part of my body that was always flat before having a child. Now it's a mess. I can't wait for a TT among other things! Great work! Keep it up!

@ michsd I went to Quick Weight Loss center to help motivate me in my weight loss. I would love to do the mommy makeover now but I know I want to lose more weight and if I lose to much after a makeover I would need another. That's to much money to spend to have to do over. I'm praying that I can get to 140 before the end of December and then praying I can get my makeover done before January. Good luck with your weight loss and future mommy makeover.

How much time is needed to prepare for before and after mommy makeover?

I wanted to know from all the ladies that have gone through the mommy makeover, how much time is adequately needed to prepare for before and after surgery? Also how long did it take to decide on breast implant type and size? I am still on my weight loss journey with 20 down and 15-25 to go before I reach my desired (wishful) weight before the MM. I would like to do the procedure 12/28/15 to allow me to be off 3 weeks between 2015/16 to minimize any impact at work and pay. I contacted Dr. Basu's office early October to see about a consultation and was advised to wait until the first week in December. I'm not sure about you ladies but I am a planner and like to be prepared. I emailed asking if I could have a consultation sooner by email but haven't heard back yet. Secondly, I don't want to put money down to secure the date without all the facts and I don't want to lose the spot either. I know his work is fabulous but I don't how much it will costs and what he will recommend. I'm anxious and was having trouble sleeping as my mind was racing about anything and everything to do with a mommy makeover. Honestly I think I will be pushing it to take only 3 weeks off but I will cross that bridge when I get there. Thanks for listening, I am an addict to real self and find it very encouraging reading everyone's stories, they give me hope.

Best of luck with your surgery! I'm scheduled for three weeks off but I'll take more if I need it. I don't want to rush back and jeopardize my health

I completely agree. I'm taking off three weeks too, combined sick time and vacation from 2015 and 2016.

By week 3 I finally started to feel like myself. ..not as much pain...able to take just ibuprofen and began sleeping better. Because I have an injured foot in a cast, I was off work for 7 wks total. If your job is not physically demanding, requiring pushing or lifting. .. 3-4 wks should be ok. :) It's exciting! I am so happy with my results! :) Make sure you research your anesthesia doctor too. He is in charge of your airway, breathing and circulation as well as pain control immediately post operatively!
