Buyer's remorse - regret torturing my body

Never again! On day one I was assessed for the appropriate treatment by a business manager rather than a legitimate health care professional! Since the treatment was advertised as a "lunch time" process with "little down time", I didn't question this. Long story short, the treatment was not as simple as presented and I wasn't provided post care instructions. Further, I had to call the office several times just to beg for pain medication (for unexpected and unbelievable pain). I was prescribed a few Gabepentin tablets. Any one with experience with this medication knows that it takes more than a day or so for this drug to work. I was literally in tears. Although, I have expressed my concerns with this center, I have yet to receive a simple follow-up phone call. The entire process caused me to miss three days of work and endure considerable pain. Here's detail regarding my experience:

Free Consultation Appointment! - Met the business manager who asked me to undress. The business manager performed an assessment and identified that I was an appropriate candidate for cool sculpting. With a very convincing business manager, my appointment was booked for the next few days and payment was taken immediately (of course).

Day 1: Four cycles of cool sculpting performed to upper, lower, right and left abdomen. I wanted to quit after round 2, but was informed that it would negatively impact results (uneven). The "vacuum" hurts and so did the "massage".

Days 2 & 3: Swelling, numbness, a little sore to touch

Day 4: The numbness wore off, my nerves were now awake and the onset of pain begun

Day 5: Contacted center and was prescribed Gabepentin and Lidocaine patches

Days 6 - 8: Agonizing pain

Days 9 & 10: Begin to experience some relief

Day 11: First day without pain

In conclusion, I haven't been interested in monitoring my progress because no amount of inches that fall off as a result of this treatment warrants having to manage nearly a week of pain. It was not worth it in my opinion. I was only looking for enhancement and something. Instead, I feel foolish from buyer's remorse and regret torturing my body when I would rather have spent that time at the gym instead of managing pain.

Dear NGriffin1,

My name is Tiffany. I’m Dr. Shel’s Practice Manager. I’ve made several attempts to call you but the phone picked up then hung up so I called back and your mailbox was full. At the last attempt, you hung upon me.
Unfortunately, I was not the person that assessed you during your complimentary consultation on 5-26-17. You met with Alda who is one of our four Certified CoolSculpting and Laser Technicians (not a business manager as you mentioned). Your treatment provider is also a certified technician with years of experience.

Our office has performed thousands of the procedure you had with less than 3% of them needing any form of pain or other medication. The treatment you had is FDA- cleared, safe, and effective. Over 500,000 patients have had this treatment worldwide and this number is increasing daily.

We are sorry you did not feel well after your treatments and we know everyone responds to treatments differently. We don’t want you to be in any pain which is why we have made every effort to reach out and assist you. Our lead medical aesthetician returned your initial phone call the same day on 5-30-17 and called in a few appropriate prescriptions for you. On 6-1-17 you called and spoke to our lead medical aesthetician again requesting more medication which is when you were asked to come in and see Dr. Shel so she could evaluate you for your benefit and safety. You agreed and scheduled a follow-up appointment on 6-2-17 but you did not come to your appointment. Patient care is very important to Dr. Shel and our entire team! Our lead medical aesthetician called you after your appointment time past and left a message asking you to let us know how you are feeling.

The day of your treatments, your provider explained the post care instructions and you also reviewed and initialed throughout the Consent which explained the treatment, what to expect after the treatment and possible side effects.

What can we do to make this better for you? We are still here to help you and Dr. Shel would still like to see you for an evaluation at of course no charge. Please e-mail me at manager@drshel.com so we can schedule your follow up appointment and again, let me know if there is anything we can do to help you in any way.
