Post Op - Day 18

WORTH IT
Day 18 post op.
Been back to work for over a week and half.

DAY 10 came to a halt when my worst fear came to life. My left breast spit a stitch right at the point which has the most burden of weight and the least blood supply. I could see the white stitch poking out. Ugh! Day 12, I went for my second post surgery visit and got the stitches out. (They even cut out the white pieces sticking out of the wound.
Yeah, that was uncomfortable, but very tolerable. I wasn't expecting the stitch areas to hurt, but they were sore for a couple of days.
Boobs were heavy and geez my nipples/areolas were so tender that even a plain shirt hurt. I popped a few gabapentins for nerve pain and it helped a lot. It still occurs here and there, but is tolerable.
I think it was day 15 before I could actually sleep non elevated... where my boobs didn't weigh a million pounds. Lol.
I'm currently still nursing this open wound and trying not to stress about it. My surgeon told me it will heal in 4-6 weeks. He suggests keeping it hydrated with aquaphor.
So, with what I've read online, I'm not putting antibiotic cream on it because it will make it worse. I've bought some saline wash and hydrate a piece of gauze, take it to the skin while I'm at work and let it dry. I keep the aquaphor on it at night and leave it open. It felt like it was getting much bigger, but it isn't. So, I'm keeping it hydrated, taking it very easy to ensure I'm not overexerting myself at work and trying to eat well.

How is your incision doing? Healing I hope.
Yes, definitely on the mend!
You look great! My PS also gave me similar advice (i.e Aquaphor as opposed to antibiotic creams) with a split suture I had in the exact same location. He also suggested covering the area with a light bandage to prevent the Aquaphor from rubbing off. This is also actually in line with current wound care advice. Google the “wounds covered or uncovered” for more details. Good luck and happy healing! :-)

Post Op -Day 9

Well, I've figured it out.. the mornings will just be a little more difficult than the rest. Each am, after sleeping elevated with my Yianna bra, those babies feel like heavy rocks! Once I get moving and take the celebrex, neurontin and flexeril, there is usually not much difficulty.
DAY 6, I went back to work and also attempted to wean off of the meds, stopping one at a time and coupling it with acetaminophen.
It was a hard day because I was walking all day and didn't have all of the meds in my system. I called the nurse and she refilled my prescriptions. I also received education informing me that this pain regimen is meant to work together, not picking and choosing. Lol. I know better!
DAY 7 was much better. Celebrex 200mg twice daily plus Flexeril and Neurontin three times daily. I've been using Tylenol 500mg for breakthrough pain.
DAY 8 was a good day..with the tiny exception that I was experiencing shortness of breath on exertion. When I got home, my boyfriend told me to look at my ankles.. NOoooo! I had Cankles! In fact, BOTH OF MY LEGS WERE SWOLLEN FROM THE KNEE DOWN. As a nurse, in sight take either of these symptoms lightly and checked my blood pressure. Pressure was ok. I was checking areas for blood clots, but none noted. I
I realized that I had to stop the neurontin and celebrex as both of these may cause fluid retention. ( I jumped into bed and elevated my legs.) Decided I would just notify surgeon in the am since I was mostly asymptomatic...

congrats, you look great. what are your stats if you don't mind sharing? do you like the bra you are in ? How is it going with the lamisil?
5'6 143 lbs. The lamisil was amazing and my scars look pretty great so far. Yes, they supplied the Yianna post surgical and it is comfortable.
hi Alexiss. I have just had the same op! I’m on day 6. they are so heavy and I’m still in pain. Mine look a bit square shaped at the moment. how are yours looking now? would love to see some pictures. mine are out to the side a bit and I can’t put my arms down properly my sides. just hope this will change! I am also a nurse, but I am taking more time off. I don’t know how you went back to work!! but yours look really good! :)
Thanks! Will post an update.

Post op Day 2- Ouch

So, this morning was definitely the hardest by far. My breasts felt completely full and tight! Ouch! After getting up and moving around a bit (and taking celebrex and flexeril) the fullness improved. I was able to shower and get out of the house for lunch. Did some more moving around, but then I had some pain so I came back home and relaxed the rest of the day.
