WORTH IT$11,000

Today I scheduled my BL/BA for July 11th. I am waiting three months at the suggestion of my surgeon to make sure that my milk is completely dried up. I recently weaned my daughter who is just shy of a year old. I loved nursing and would do it again in a heartbeat, I just don't love how it affected my breasts. We are planning on moving to the Caribbean for a few years and I am excited to look awesome in a swim top!

I had my initial consultation with the surgeon and he suggested a High Profile Style 20 Silicone under. I am not sure on the cc size that I tried but I believe it was 425cc or 450cc. I was a 36D prior to mommyhood and I hope to end up a 36DD after my surgery. I am 5'8" and currently 148 lbs. I plan to lose another 10-15 pounds before my surgery now that I can work out more that I'm done nursing.

I have always wanted implants to have larger and perkier breasts. Never did I consider needing a lift also. I am very nervous about having the lift but reading all the stories here definitely help. I am going back to meet with the surgeon again on June 19th to have a second consultation after my milk is completely dry. I will re-try implants and take pre-op photos at that time.

The surgeon I have chosen is Dr. Mark Schusterman from Houston, TX. A friend of mine had her BA there and highly recommended him.

Any advice or thoughts are greatly appreciated!

Thank you for starting your journey on RealSelf. Other women have inquired about the time necessary to wait for surgery after nursing. I think it's a great idea to give your breasts a rest as they are constantly changing with breastfeeding. You want to give your doctor a more "settled breast" to work on. I bet you'll be grateful you did the lift in the long run. Excited for you...keep up posted!!

Thanks :) I know that my surgeon definitely knows best so I am happy to wait for my surgery. I had a pretty good feeling a lift was going to be necessary but I was holding on to hope that it wasn't. That's okay though. I'm ready for it!

i love how you call them mom boobs. i have mom boobs without the kids!! lol i will probably need a lift as well, but my PS said it would be more for my own viewing pleasure once my bra was off so if i wanted to do that down the road, i can. but with the technique he uses, i might end up coming out ok and not needing one. another reason why i am going conservative with my implant size. i just want to fill up my bra! you have some time to go, doesnt waiting stink kinda?!

Yes, the waiting is not fun at all! For some reason going into my consultation I was thinking I would wean my daughter and then a few weeks later have my surgery. Clearly I was not prepared for how long it takes to dry up and your breasts to stop changing. Haha. That's ok though. I'm glad to be patient and get them done right. We are going on vacation in May so I'm sad I won't have them then. Next year though :)

yeah i can imagine! but you are right it is better to wait and have it done once the right way. a vacation is def something to look forward to, and it will make the time go by faster with having something to look forward to. where are you guys going? you might have to take a mini vacation after your boobs just to celebrate lol

We have been vacationing there for several years. We both love to dive and fish so we figured we would just go down there for a few years while our daughter is young. My hubby works offshore and flies to work so he can work from wherever. We will come back to the US frequently to visit family and then move back here in a few years. But if you're going to live in the Caribbean you need awesome boobs right?!? Haha :)

My hubby works a two week rotation so he will be at home with me and our daughter for two weeks following surgery. If I need help after that I will go stay with my sister or mom.

Look up Dr. Horndeski. He does a lift without vertical scars. I did a review of his work with me on my profile and there are several other reviews on this site of his work.

Thanks for your suggestion. I have seen several reviews of the procedure that he does. It is not what I am looking for. The outcome is not the look that I desire. A vertical lift has the best long term results. I have no issues with a vertical scar. The shape of my breast and longevity of my lift is much more important to me than trying to avoid a tiny scar that will fade and only my hubby will ever see. I understand that other women are very concerned with scarring and I am glad that option is available for them. I personally do not like the pleating of skin, smooshed nipples, and triangular or boxy shape that I have seen on the majority of the UBLs he has done. I am glad you are happy with his work and have fun with your new twins :)

I understand. I did the Mini UBL and the pleating will go away around the nipples. One of my favorite things was that I will never need another lift because he builds an internal bra with my own tissue. Even other providers I talked to about the anchor lift made it clear that its only a temporary fix because the skin is the only thing holding up all the tissue and my implants and will eventually stretch again. Now my skin doesn't do anything but cover and isn't doing all the work of carrying the weight around.

That's cool that he does an internal bra. I think it's so neat that there are so many different options for us to choose from. A vertical lift is the same way. A vertical lift and an anchor lift are not the same procedure. With a vertical lift there is no scar underneath. Just a lollipop shaped scar. It also is one of the best lifts for minimal scarring because, like with your UBL, the skin is not holding up the implant so there is not tension on the scars. Are your implants under or over the muscle? Did he tell you how long until the pleating and flatness of your nipples will improve?

I wasn't a candidate for the Lollipop. The pleating is supposed to improve daily and be gone in around 6 months; however he does do a nipple revision at 6 months for free if necessary that corrects the problem if it becomes one. most don't end up needing the revision but it is an option for you.
