Hasn't Been What I Was Expecting After Reading All the Great Reviews - Houston, TX

I enjoy being a tall voluptuous woman and just wanted to improve my shape with a fuller bottom.

So I did research and looked for a doctor. Didn't have any luck with finding a doctor in Dallas, and ran across a lot of good reviews on Dr Cortes. So after research, I decided to go with him.

My husband did most of the emailing , phone calls, and appointment making and ran into several complications resulting in multiple phone calls. I should have taken this as a sign to rethink my selection.

After arriving for my scheduled appointment, the office was packed. I did not get seen until 2 hrs after my scheduled appointment. There was an assistant who provided answers to a lot of my questions, which I am grateful.

The surgery started on time, and took only 3 hrs instead of the 5 we were expecting. The doctor put 1500cc of fat into each butt cheek.

The hospital personnel were a great help, I was released early the following morning.

After going home, I have been in a lot of pain. Very uncomfortable and nauseous. I'm concerned that my stomach doesn't look the way it should. When I sit to use the bathroom, there are very strange folds on my stomach. I was told that it was fluid and that it will go away after time with the compression shaper. I'm not feeling very confident. Can anyone tell me if they had this same issue?

We have sent several text messages to the doctors office only to receive automated messages with no answer on the subject matter question.
I'm sad to say, I'm regretting my choices.

I feel the same way about him spending no time with me and telling me the exact same thing for pre op. I really didn't feel heard :( my surgery is Monday so now I'm really nervous that he doesn't know what I want. How could he when I only saw him for 5 min :-/ I'm so nervous. I'm sorry to hear about your experience. I've read so many amazing reviews and saw so many great outcomes and for this to happen to you really sucks.

Awww I'm sorry that you didn't have a smooth time after surgery! I am not sure about Dr Cortes beside manner as I am still pre-op... Try calling his office, if the txt messaging is not working! I've never used the txt line & probably never will... With this type of procedure... Communication is key! You need to really convey/voice your concerns....If you feel you didn't get all the information you needed pre-op or post-op visit... You have to let it be known to him & Don't leave until you do! Lol! I think his office staff is very nice and accommodating... Just let them know! Anywho... Happy Healing Honey!! Wish you a speedy recovery!

Hey doll good morning. How is your compression garment fitting you? It seems to be irritating or rubbing on your skin the wrong way. .....remember your skin us super sensitive after having liposuction. Inbox me so I can explain post op instructions in detail.

Thank you for contacting me. I need all the help I can get. The one Dr. Cortez office was really really really too tight. It dug deep into my side and basically cut off circulation. So I went to the store and got a different compression garment it's tight but it's not too tight.

Also swelling in your eyes or face is completely normal. It should go away in a few weeks

I just dont know... The doctor should personally be in contact with you after surgery. You should be able to send these photos to them for their evaluation. I think you should call/email and text letting them know that you are very concerned and you don't feel you have received adequate direction or evaluation, they shouldn't ignore that. I cancelled with Cortez and they kept my 500.00 deposit even though I cancelled months in advance. The lady told me that they record phone conversations and they would win if I disputed the charge with my credit card company. I felt uncomfortable by the impersonal communications so my heart has led me to find another doctor. I've seen great results from Dr. Cortes patients though, give it a little time. Once the swelling and fluid goes down you will have a better idea of your results.

Unfortunately I have received no contact from the doctor. His staff does not return text/emails. We've called and seem to get the run around. Glad to hear you went else where for your care.

I'm so glad you're feeling better. I'm sure you will have great results like many of Cortes patients but what he said to you about the surgery not being for your tummy and the lack of communication and support to address your concerns is just wrong. I hope you bring this to their attention.

Lymphatic massage on day 10 post op

User Avatar
Jenn1978w
Today I had a lymphatic massage, the lady was very nice. I was very nervous and cried a little bit because I was afraid that it was going to hurt. She was concerned that Dr Cortez gave me the go ahead to start having the massages done. So due to me only being 10 days post op and unable to lay on my back, she had me lay on my stomach and worked a little bit on my back for 30 minutes. I am happy to say that it wasn't painful and I think it may be beneficial. However I did get lightheaded and nauseous about an hour after. So hopefully that's just the toxins working their way out of my system.

Try Silvadene cream 1% on your stomach.

Keep calling your doctor until he comes back to you, $10k isn't pocket change, you paid and you should get the service you paid for. Your tummy looks so sore, I hope it gets better soon!

Swelling normal to go and come thru your healing. Are you wearing you garment enough and putting tank tops under the garment? It may be just one of those cases where it don't look the best now but will end up looking perfect.

I think I was taking too much iron and I think the massage was helpful. Today I went to the store and bought some arnica gel, vitamin c, and a pineapple vitamin called bromelain that I hope will help. :-)
