Reviews you can trust, from real people like you.
How it works
  • Our highly-trained Review Moderation team evaluates all reviews before they're published to ensure they're written by people like you and not a member of a doctor's office.
  • This multi-step process takes up to 24 hours from review submission to publication.
  • Doctors can't pay to have reviews removed or hidden.
  • Reviews are only removed at the reviewer's request or if they violate our Terms of Service.

If you have questions or believe we should re-evaluate a published review, let us know.

I am a long time lurker on this site. I figured the least I could do was give back by writing a review. Since I chose Dr. Cortes in large part because of the results I have seen on this site, I wanted to break down the pros and cons of my complete experience from first contact to last post-op check up. It may seem like I am being picky, but for the amount of money spent--customer service should be key!

First and foremost, the largest pro is that I am happy with the results thus far.

PROS
--On the day of surgery, I wore a size 12 and weighed 196 lbs. (I am 5'7.) My measurements were 42-34-42, 36D bra. Today, my measurements are 40-29-45. Five days after surgery I weighed 210lbs, but am unclear what my weight is now.

--Reluctantly, Dr. Cortes' office drove me from the hospital to the hotel. (Keyword: reluctantly; more to come on this in the cons.) As an out of town patient, I was clear with several members of Cortes' staff that I would need to get a cab and multiple people told me that it was customary for them to provide this service.

--The day after I was released from the hospital someone from the office brought me some antibiotics.

--The staff rescheduled my surgery appointment and was willing to work around a flight delay for my initial pre-op appointment.

--Cortes visited me on the day of my discharge from the hospital. When the nurses told him that his staff was not going to give me a ride home, he assured that someone would come get me. And, he did.

CONS (too many to list)
Upon my first contact with Cortes' office, I had to remind the staff to email my receipts. The staff would defer to one or two people in the office to do this and usually get back to me in a less than timely manner.

I gave specific instructions on how to contact me (no mail and call the work number during 9-5), yet no one followed these instructions.

Contacting the office is really hard. They seem to be transitioning between two offices and most times are ill equipped to answer questions ad hoc over the phone.

Two weeks before my surgery date, the hospital called me to tell me they expected me to be at the hospital for surgery in two days. When I informed the hospital what my surgery day was, they told me that Cortes had not booked a surgery room for that day and that I should check in with the office.

Cortes changed my surgery time 16 hours before I was due to go in for surgery. As an out of town patient, this was an unneccessary time crunch for me. I had to return the rental car early and didn't have time to pick up my prescriptions. I also wasn't given a choice. I was just told that my time was changed from noon to 5 AM so that another patient's implants would arrive in time for her surgery.

I was originally told that my appointments would be in Conroe. Therefore, I rented a hotel in Conroe. The day before my appointment I was told that my appointments would be in Houston. This is a 40 mile difference.

Finally, Cortes' Houston office is swarming with people. I waited one hour to be called in for my appointment. I was waiting so long and with so many people that I wondered if this was a beauty salon. My total time spent with Cortes during post and pre op appointments is probably around 20 minutes-- so maybe an average of 10 mins each time.
