Cellfina was just done yesterday. I am very optimistic and will post pics as soon as the 1 month mark comes up. Just wanted to let everyone know my experience for during and post Cellfina. The valium that was prescribed definitely helped take the edge off. I even dosed off a bit during the actual procedure.
The numbing agent is inserted after you are prepped with betadine and draped. It is started by suctioning the skin first then the needle goes into the area while still suctioned to inject the anesthetic. This was the most painful part of the procedure. Some parts were around a 7 on a 1-10 pain scale. Other areas were around a 8 to 9. The Cellfina procedure itself was around a 2 or 3. After the procedure you are bandaged up with gauze and tape around the injected areas. What you will be leaking out is a mixture of your own blood and the numbing agent. I soaked through the bandages that were on me and the spanx within a few hours. This might not be typical but was my experience. You are also given a diaper to wear but it is very helpful in keeping the bandages in place and soaking up some of the blood. It is not noticeable in your clothes.
Just wanted to recommend to anyone about to do it that it might be helpful to prepare prior by getting some replacement bandages and tape at the store. Also maybe some back up spanx which in my case I will need. The spanx does help the bandages and makes it more comfortable with moving around. It is recommended to wear spanx for a week or more. I was also told not to take any blood thinning agents like ibuprofen or aspirin as it will make for more bruising. Tylenol seemed to help fine for me.
