Provider Review
Dr. Boynton is a true expert. You won't regret choosing him. My first consultation with him was pleasant. His office and staff were warm and do a great job of putting you at ease. Lord knows it's an embarrassing thing to discuss and they are fully appreciative of that. In our first consult, he spent majority of time getting to know me. I appreciated him spending time establishing a relationship before doing an examination. He was also realistic in his promises and ensured I understood what I was signing up for - there would be marked improvement, but I wouldn't get zach effron's chest with just this surgery. Ultimately I went with him based on the positive reviews for the specific procedure as well as his overall bedside manner and qualifications. Additionally, his website was exceptionally professional and informative for the gyno procedure which is something I didn't find with many other providers; his description of his minimally invasive surgery technique was also helpful to see. Ultimately, I felt there was a great deal of transparency about his practice which was great. Obviously I was nervous putting down the deposit; it's not a small sum of money and it's a surgery you're signing up for after all. But I'm here to tell you - if you've suffered with this issue like me and so many others on this website, then you really shouldn't hesitate. Any moment I found myself second guessing the decision, I reminded myself how this issue has affected me in the past and how glad I would be to get rid of it. The surgery itself was a breeze. It was scheduled for early in the morning which is perfect (no time to fret about it). Everything was on time and went like clock work. The part I was a bit nervous about was the general anesthesia but the anesthesiologist was just fantastic. She did a great job putting me at ease and Dr. Boynton told me this is the same anesthesiologist that he trusted with his own mother in the past so there was really nothing to worry about. And he was right. The last memory I have was starting to lay down in the OR as the doctors made pleasant small talk with me. Next thing I know...my eyes opened and it was done! It was almost hard to believe it had even happened. The nurses and staff at the hospital were exceptional. They did such a great job making me feel comfortable and were super attentive. They were clearly knowledgeable and knew exactly how to handle things. After an hour or so of chilling in the recovery room, I went back home with my wife. And here's where I was pleasantly surprised - I barely had any pain. Like almost none. Ever. I had a prescription for pain meds but I never took anything more than a tylenol. I was pretty thrilled about that! However, I did have one bump along the road to recovery. 24 hours post-op I went back to see Dr. B (I was feeling so good I was able to uber there myself instead of having my wife leave work to drive me) to take out the drains. The drain removal and all was fine but when I returned home and was about to dig into some lunch, I had a hematoma pop up on my left side. That was admittedly scary but mind you it's pretty rare. I called his office immediately and he asked me to come back in. There, he evaluated the situation and decided the right course of action would be to wait for the hematoma to get re-absorbed so he wrapped me up in more secure bandages. This limited my ability to shower for about a week but I didn't really care - I was at a transition period where I didn't have work or school so I was laser focused on the healing and didn't mind doing whatever it took. Aside from the hematoma, honestly everything else was super smooth. Dr. B was always attentive and available and his staff were consistently supportive and helpful. One slight negative was that because Dr. B has such a packed schedule, I felt that sometimes I had to really rush through all my questions lest he dash out the door onto his next patient but I understand that's the nature of his business. I would advise having your questions written down and going through them with him - when you do ask him questions he definitely spends time answering in detail. The final results were great. It's such an improvement from before and I'm thrilled to be able to wear tshirts and go to the beach with no more hesitation. I used to stand in the mirror every morning obsessing over how unhappy I was with my gyno...now I obsess over how much better it looks! All in all - if gyno has bothered you for years, just get the surgery done. I honestly wish I had done this earlier in my 20s. Good luck!
