Horrible Microblading Job
I don’t know what happened to my eyebrows, but I never plucked or waxed them and yet they still disappeared when I was about 24. So for over a decade, I have been wanting a semi-permanent alternative to having to paint my brows on every day, especially since I live in a tropical climate and even the most “waterproof” pencils seem to melt off in the humidity. I wasn’t ready to commit to a full tattoo (because what it they mess up?), so when I was offered microblading (which lasts up to about a year), I was overjoyed.
Well, I went in and the girl asked for pictures, and what I like and don’t like. So I gave her a picture of the shape I want (which was almost identical to the shape I came in drawn on with), and told her I don’t like them thick, too long, or too close together.
She drew out the initial outline and asked me if it looked okay. I thought they looked “too big” - both in thickness and in length, but the shape was okay. She said that they won’t be quite as thick once they’re done, and that they won’t be as close together either because she will draw “little baby ones” in the front (towards the bridge of my nose) so they won’t technically start until farther apart. I thought this sounded kinda weird, but she assured me she knew what she was doing, and that everyone she’s done them on, loves them. Since the initial shape outline was okay, I said okay and proceed...
WOW. BIG MISTAKE. I don’t know WHY she strayed so far off script and off picture. The shape ended up being NOWHERE close to the initial outline she showed me, they were too thick and too long, too close together (exactly everything I DIDN’T want), and the entire shape is so backwards and wrong.
I look hideous. I look like I’m grouchy and angry now all the time.
The picture really don’t do it justice because it looks SO much worse in person.
Bottom line: Microblading can be wonderful and very realistic, but MAKE SURE you know EXACTLY what shape you’re getting. You can ALWAYS add thickness, or length, and they WILL fade if they’re too dark, but what you cannot change is the shape, or take away if they’re too thick or too long.
I did everything I wasn’t supposed to in an attempt to fade them as much and quickly as possible. But still, I can’t cover been up enough. It looks like I shaved them and now have stubble that’s peeking out and looks gross.
I can’t believe I shelled out $550 for a horrible brow job I’m now going to be stuck with for a year. I should also note that the girl who did them was young (her 20’s), and the while the shape she drew might be “in style” right now with younger girls, it’s not for everyone, and it’s certainly not a “one shape fits all” situation.
