Inner and Outer Thigh Smart Lipo in 2013 Left Me with Deformed Thighs and a Destroyed Body Image - Honolulu, HI

I've always been active and exercise but could never lose the little pad of fat at the top of my inner thighs. I was 63 at the time of the procedure, had the start of some saddlebags and decided to try lipo. I had some cellulite and was concerned about loose skin after the procedure. The PS assured me that the heat from the smart lipo would help to shrink the skin.

I talked to several different PS before making my decision to go with Dr. Ching - a decision I now regret.

The prep for the procedure was a little surprising - I didn't feel I was fully informed beforehand of what was going to be done. I was pretty much out of it during the procedure due to the medication I was given, and went back to our motel with my husband afterwards and slept for many hours, The pain wasn't all that bad and I wore the compression garment as instructed. I see that many of you were instructed to get or do lymphatic massage for lipo but I was never given those instructions.

Several months after the procedure, when I was done with the compression garment and all the swelling and bruising were long gone. I saw that the contour was irregular. You could see where the fat had been removed from my inner thighs with no apparent effort made to feather the contour up into the front of my thighs. Instead, there was a ridge that ran down the from of my upper thigh between the fat that had been removed and the rest of the front of my leg. It seemed that no effort had been taken to create a smooth transition from the fat removed from my inner thigh to front of my thigh.

After talking to the PS, I made the second mistake of letting this same PS work on me.

The PS did the revision, and after the swelling went down, I saw I now had two big "dents" in my inner thighs and a weird line under my butt on both sides, almost as if the lipo wand had sucked out too much fat there. There is also a weird lumpy area under my butt on the right side. When you look at my legs from the back, you get see the how my legs go in then come back out due to the excessive fat removed from my inner thighs.

As a result of this surgery, I am embarrassed to put on a swimsuit again and seldom wear shorts. I have been told that a fat transfer to my inner thighs might help return them to a better shape. After reading all the reviews I am wondering if a combo of fat grafting, lipo sculpting and/or lipo revision would help.

I am now 65, I still have cellulite and have gained about 5 lbs as I was told I would need some "fat" to harvest if I want grafting. I want to do something but since the PS who did the initial work was board certified and had a lot of good reviews I am no longer confident choosing someone based on these on line reviews. I am willing to travel to HI, CA, AZ for a highly recommended and would even go further if the PS was confident they could help.

I think Smart lipo is a bad idea. I have seen many women deformed from this. I feel for you, my body is destroyed now from Vaser and I'm looking to do a revision with a really good doctor. Sorry you were sucked into doing a revision with the same dr. I refuse- even if he offers me a revision for free.

I went back the first time as he said he would just smooth it out. You're right, it was a big mistake. The PS offered a 3rd try for free but I learned my lesson. Am now seeking fat grafting and/or revision and am hoping to get a reference or two from the realSelf community. Good luck on your search.

Thanks ubcool2. I will be sure to post a review on my revision when it's done. I'm 6 months out of the botched procedure now.

I actually think a bit of micro fat transfer to the dents and then maybe close your eyes and just do a lower body lift of some sort. I know it's such a shame because you wouldn't have needed it but I'm personally- even at 30 years of age- considering any sort of body lift to try and resolve the disgusting mess of my destroyed skin.

Thanks for the suggestion. I'm open to anything that will bring an improvement. Nto sure about a lower body lift. From what I've heard the scars and pretty visible.

Yes they are. I'm going to go with the fat grafting first then slice and dice I say. I'm even open to having a big cut on my mid upper thighs because thats better tun this disgusting dimpling. I can laser the scar- then tattoo over it when it's as faded from the laser as possible. The tattoo can commemorate this hideous journey I've been on toward self acceptance.

Let me know how the fat grafting goes. I'll be thinking of you and wishing you a successful procedure. Sorry you are having to go through all of this!

I don't think your legs look"deformed". I think it looks like a muscle. You can get it fixed if it's a problem for you, but I think you look damn good for 65 and you should be proud and live your life!

Thanks for the positive input. I know it looks like muscle in the pic but if you saw me in person you would probably wonder why my inner thighs are concave. But your right, I have to get over it and move on. Tks!

I had smart lipo on my legs and hips and so far, the results are great. I have very firm skin Still at 46amd maybe that makes a difference. But not sure why people think the smart lipo is so bad. I am at 3 weeks today and mine looks great thus far.

Its good to hear that someone had a great result - thanks for sharing bedrock. I thought the smart lipo would be a good thing. It was only AFTER my procedure that I found all these other people who have had less than ideal results. You seem to be one of the few. Continued success to you!
