This is my first experience with fillers, and I...
Anyway, regarding the procedure...
Pain: If I remember correctly, Dr. Chu said there was a bit of a numbing agent within the syringe, so although the first injection felt a bit like a pinch, that eventually dulled. I will say that you will definitely feel like poking or just continuously stroking your newly injected areas...DON'T! You don't want anything to migrate, as it takes about 2 days for the product to "set." I also had a bit of numbness in the areas that had been injected, but that dissipated after about 3-5 hours--I'm sure this varies by individual, how much was injected, and in which area.
Bumps: Nope, no abnormal lumps or bumps!
Bruising: NO bruising at all. I've been told bruising occurs from a lacking technique. Dr. Chu injected it very carefully, making sure not to over fill, as he said it's better to gradually add to avoid this complication.
Swelling: There was a bit of swelling, but it has gone down substantially (it's been almost a week).
After-care: No facial massages (for obvious reasons), and no exercise for a day. You'll also be prescribed an antibiotic to avoid infection since it does penetrate deep into your skin. I was scared of moving the product since I touch my face a lot while cleaning and putting makeup on... But so long as you gently remove your makeup and don't like...slap, poke, jab, punch, etc. your injected area, ya'll should be good!
I forgot to mention earlier that there may be some redness/a bit of a tiny bump where the needle punctured your skin (for me the puncture site was pretty visible), but that will go away within a day.
Provider Review
I really like Dr. Chu! I don't think many people know, but I have a bit of white coat syndrome. That is, I get anxious and nervous in clinical settings, especially when speaking to doctors. Dr. Chu and his staff's friendliness definitely helped calm me down. He was well mannered, confident, kind, understanding and definitely knowledgeable about the plastic surgery field. He's quite insightful and what I really appreciated were...well there's quite a few things but here's two to name a few! -He provided me with a before and after so show the DRAMATIC difference of my pre and post procedure -Answered all my questions (and he did so in an enthusiastic matter! He's quite engaging!) A bit off topic, but the waiting time is never ridiculous, and the office has such a comfy couch! I'd absolutely recommend him to anyone seeking fillers (especially for eye bags [mine are hereditary and have been with me since 6th grade] and chin augmentation)! I'm walking around for the first time in my life where my bags don't look absolutely dreadful! 8^D I'm a very happy and satisfied patient!
