After having 2 large babies and then losing 40...
After having 2 large babies and then losing 40 pounds, I was left with a large and embarrassing tummy apron. At 200+ pounds, I knew I needed to lose more weight, but it felt futile and like a waste of time and effort because no matter how much I lost, the disfiguring tummy apron would still remain. So why try? A wonderful new partner came into my life who encouraged me to explore a panniculectomy, then have the procedure. I am so glad I did. The procedure and weeks following were overwhelming and unsettling and a rollercoaster ride of emotions and discomfort, but 6 months out, it's all worth it. I've lost an additional 22 pounds (and 40 inches!) since the surgery, and am confident I'll reach my goal weight and maintain it. Having the panniculectomy was my kickstart. Life felt "on hold" before; inertia had taken hold. Now, at age 60, I finally am beginning to see my body as normal, not an embarrassment. I'm more active than I've ever been, which is helping the weight to continue to drop. The future is looking very bright!

Dr. Schlesinger and staff were consistently empathetic, nurturing and encouraging. I felt confident in the procedure under their care. The attention to detail was impressive; everything necessary was done to insure my safety and comfort. Only suggestion would be to provide follow-up calls initiated by your office the first few days post-surgery. A phone number was always provided for me to call the office, but I was hesitant to do so and would have appreciated contact initiated by you. Such an overwhelming time!
