About a year ago I decided to have eye lid surgery...
About a year ago I decided to have eye lid surgery performed to get rid of my droopy upper eyelids and sagging skin below my eyes. I am very careful to take care of my skin and have been told I have beautiful skin many times, but hated looking the mirror because of my eyes.
After a lot of research on surgeons in my area (Hawai'i) and consult appointments with several doctors, I chose Dr. Larry Schlesinger for several reasons. First, he answered all my questions very directly, gave me options and described the procedures, including a procedure to prevent the skin under my eyes from sagging again years after the surgery. Second, when thanked him for his time and told him I had several more doctors I wanted to have a consult with before I made a decision as to who to have do the surgery, he took out a notepad and wrote down several other doctor's names to talk. Obviously between this and the fact that his waiting room was packed with patients in for follow-up after surgery, he was good at what he did and was confident of that fact.
Through all of my pre-op and follow-up appointments to-date, his entire staff has been, pleasant and efficient and takes as much time as is necessary with each patient. This is no easy task, as his office is very busy with patients. It has been quite some time since I have been at a doctor's appointment where I did not feel I was being rushed through the process in order that as many people could be squeezed in as possible.
The day of the surgery went very smoothly. I had been given very good instructions prior to the surgery and had been well-prepared. Dr. Curt Carsen, the anesthesiologist was caring and obviously good at what he did as I have had reactions to anesthesia drugs in the past and felt no significant effects after the surgery. The next day follow-up appointment went well, as did having all stitches out the following day.
I am 7 days out from the surgery. I have some bruising and a little swelling still, but I am very happy with the results. And the 'mini-face lift' procedure? Brilliant! As Dr. Schlesinger said 'the old woman in the mirror is gone'. I am sure in the coming weeks, I will be even happier with the results.
For anyone considering eye lid correction surgery, I can highly recommend Dr. Schlesinger and his entire staff.
