Feeling blessed after a frightening setback

Hello all, sorry for not updating since last week, I had a setback on Friday morning after my drains were removed. In a nutshell I suffered an arterial bleed which caused my blood pressure to plummet to ridiculously low figures and my body to shut down. Luckily for me my surgeon and two anaesthetists were with me immediately and I was raced into theatre to be opened up a second time so they could stop the bleeding.

I'm told I lost almost 2 litres of blood but had a transfusion of 6 bags and will be on iron tablets for the next couple of months.

Feeling blessed to be alive and going to enjoy life more than I ever have.

On the plus side I got to see my little waist today for the first time and my new BB, I'm super pleased with how it looks and can't wait to get out of hospital so I can try on my new clothes.

Thank you for all the messages I've received, even though I've never met any of you in rl, I feel like I've known some of you forever Xx

It's done - I'm on the other side!

Hello all,

I had my surgery just after lunchtime yesterday. Dr Dojitra came in to mark me up and introduced me to the anaesthetist a lovely Scottish gentleman. The last thing I remember him telling me was that the fluid he was putting into me was cold as ice cream, followed by do you like ice cream? I woke several hours later in my hospital room which is incidentally super comfortable.

I was attached to a morphine drip which had a self regulator on it. Unfortunately the nurse last night wasn't the kindest of people and didn't tell me this. Lucky for me I didn't need it so was fine without it. They removed the morphine drip ths morning which is great as its easier to get to the toilet. I'm now on painkiller tablets and antibiotics.

Dr Sojitra just came in to see me and told me he took 6lb of skin off! Wow was my first response followed by did I have a vertical scar? He replied no so hooray :-)

I'm really struggling to eat which is unfortunate as I was absolutely starving before I went under. The staff here have been kind enough to bring me sorbet and melon which are the only foods that don't make me feel nauseous.

I'm putting some pics of of before and after surgery. Unfortunately I haven't had a peek of my actual scar yet as I'm all bandaged up under my binder but will hopefully have one tomorrow.

Thank you fr all your kind words Xx

Less than 24 hours to go, I've just packed my bag...

And enjoyed my last work out at the gym, not sure how I'm going to cope with 6 weeks without exercise.

Decided against having any polish on my fingers but have had Bio Sculpture's Funky Fuschia on my toes and they look pretty, at least I'll have them to look at when the rest of me is black and blue!

My mother in law arrived yesterday for 2 weeks, the children adore her and she's a fabulous cook so I'm happier about leaving my children for two days.

Going to pop to the newsagent tomorrow morning and grab a load of magazines to read over the next two days in hospital.

Will try and get the surgeon to take some pics of me on my phone of me all marked up pre surgery and post before I go in

Xx
