Very Happy with my Rhinoplasty! Dorsal Hump Thick Skin Patient
WORTH IT
I am around 3 months post op and absolutely love the results of my rhinoplasty! I had a very positive experience with Mr Paun and I am so grateful for his expertise.
I am woman with thick skin and had a deviated septum, dorsal hump, and bulbous tip. I had an open rhinoplasty.
I hated my side profile and the dorsal hump was high. I had wanted a nose job for a very long time but I was nervous about “getting botched”. I was also worried that friends, family and colleagues would gossip about it. I can’t really pinpoint why I decided to go for it in the end, but I felt that Mr Paun had a lot of experience and I liked his straightforwardness and honesty. I didn’t like the morph shown at my first consultation. I thought the proposed result looked too pointy and “princess like” whereas I wanted a natural result. Mr Paun understood my concern and I felt comfortable that he knew how to achieve what I wanted. I also liked that he predominantly (although not exclusively) does rhinoplasties and often does one surgery per day. I would not have gone with a surgeon who is a jack of all trades, or who might do multiple surgeries a day.
I was very nervous on the day of surgery but Mr Paun, the team at Weymouth hospital and the anaesthesiologist made me feel as comfortable as they could. I arrived at the hospital at 7am and left early afternoon after eating some soup.
I found the recovery time quite straightforward. I think this is partly because Mr Paun didn’t pack my nostrils, so I could still breathe through my nose a bit. Bruising around my eyes started the day after the procedure but was fairly minimal. I looked the worst around day 4, when my face was very puffy. I had planned to only eat soft foods but I was able to eat reasonably normally quite soon after the procedure. I didn’t take arnica or any other supplements. I ate a lot of pineapple but I don’t know if it can be said that this genuinely helped minimise my bruising.
Due to scheduling issues, my cast came off later than expected (around day 11) and I barely left the house in the meantime. I liked my nose when the cast came off but it also looked a bit strange. In the following weeks I cried a lot because i liked my side profile but I thought I looked like a ‘whoville’ character from the front. I think that was all in my head. I now love my result and I can’t even remember my old nose.
I told some people I was having a nose job, and all of those people have been very positive about both my decision and my result. Others haven’t commented either because they haven’t noticed or have been too polite to say anything. Some people have outright asked me if I had it done, but have been very positive about it!
My nose looks great and I am very happy. I am leaving a review to assist others with their research. At my second post op consultation I was asked if I would like to leave a review, and I said that I would, but I was not at all pressured to leave one. I declined to have my before and after pictures used for promotional pictures.
