Prepare Yourself- Redness and Swelling Can Be Severe
I got the Halo and BBL laser treatments on the same day. The procedure itself wasn’t too bad the whole thing took about an hour and I was given nitrous oxide instead of a numbing cream so I didn’t have to wait the extra time for the numbing cream to kick in. After I left the office and their cooling fan is when things got hot! My face was on fire for hours but my skin didn’t look too bad. Just like dark freckles. By the end of day two the swelling was horrendous. I definitely wasn’t leaving the house but it wasn’t painful. Then by day three the redness came to join the swelling and it hurt!! My face swelled in places I didn’t know it could and I thought it was going to swell so bad that I wouldn’t be able to open my eyes. I also had some oozing on my nose which isn’t normal. On day 4, I ended up going back to the doctor and they put me on antibiotics, antifungal and steroids plus a Cicalfate cream since my face was so sensitive. These things all helped immensely and then my skin started to peel and I could watch the pigment fall off my face. That was pretty amazing! By the end of day 7, my skin was healed and looking pretty good. I am about 5 weeks out now and while I am not regretting it, I am just not seeing a huge difference except my pigment which I thing the BBL took care of. My friends keep commenting about how light my skin is and how different I look and when I smile I notice a big increase in my wrinkles especially around my eyes where I had a skin cancer surgery. The wrinkles look softer but thicker so I am not sure what all that is about. Guess that will require some Botox which I haven’t had in 8 months. Overall, I am happy I did it for my skin’s sake but I think I will just stick with BBL on an annual basis and only do halo every few years.
