He Looks Much Younger.

My husband is 46 years old, I am 43, and we have been living in Dublin for over 20 years ever since we got married. To be honest, none of us are that intent on traveling and our lives revolve around work and family. This context is necessary, as you will see. This year in January, my husband decided that he wanted to get a hair transplant because he was feeling very self-conscious about his receding hairline and thinning crown. We looked into several options near us but it soon became clear that he had to travel outside the country to get a reasonably priced package from an expert hair clinic. Seeing as he was nervous, we decided that I would accompany him to the surgery so that he would not be by himself. After looking at various clinics, we chose Heva Clinic in Istanbul because their coordination team was very communicative and accommodating. They even created an all-inclusive package that covered both of us. This way, we would travel together, sleep in the same luxury double room, enjoy shared meal plans at the hotel, and use the same private transfers in the city. Thanks to this, I could focus on supporting my husband and could sprint out for some shopping in the markets when he was asleep. I never got to that last part but oh well.

On the surgery day, the clinic translators showed me to the lounge where I sat as my husband’s hair transplant took place. I soon realized that I was not the only relative in the room and I talked to the others there, some of whom had traveled from as far as Australia! As we waited, we would get updates from the medical staff and were also offered food and drinks. It sort of felt like a retreat as the clinic did not look or feel like a hospital. We rested back at the hotel that day and the following day, I got to meet the aftercare team. They were very detailed in their explanations because they knew I would be the one taking care of my husband. They taught me how to wash his scalp with a special foam without ruining the grafts, how to deal with the swelling, which medications he had to take, and all sorts of things that related to his well-being. They also set up the aftercare app on my phone so I would have an easier time liaising with them and also tracking the medications even when we went back home. With their help, the last four months have been quite manageable. We had some bumps along the road because he had a lot of swelling but now, he looks and feels like a completely new person. His hairline has filled out with a lot of thick stubble and he looks much younger. You can even tell how proud he is of his new hair in the way he saunters into rooms now, and I cannot thank the team enough for accommodating our requests and helping us feel at home, as inexperienced as we were in traveling. We are even talking about traveling to Turkey as tourists this time around.
