Unprofessional/stressful/unsanitary Procedure Resulted in Poor Results

Nine months in and my hair is almost as thin in front as before I got my 4000+ transplants, I believe that my poor results were caused by the poor care that I received from Smile Clinic.

My experience:

#1 Unprofessional/unsanitary use of phones DURING procedure:

During the 8 hour procedure in January of this year, two of technicians used/handled their phones multiple times without removing their surgical gloves. At one point, I sat up and told the technicians that I did feel comfortable continuing until they did change their gloves after the female dropped her phone and retrieved it when sending/receiving a text message. At this point, a doctor was called in because of my complaint but it did not stop. When the technician did finally change her gloves, she discarded all the harvested follicles that she had resting on her index finger (approx. 20/30). This was as painful to watch those follicles being discarded as it was to have them plucked out of my head.

Beyond it being unsanitary to handle a phone during any procedure while donning surgical/sterile gloves, it is completely unprofessional it is to use your phone during a procedure.

#2 Ozone Treatment Failure:
After my procedure, the doctor came in to ask about my experience and I asked him about the ozone treatment. I showed him that I had inquired about it in my chat with the clinic on WhatsApp but no one had mentioned it again when I arrived. I thought that it was something that I got afterwards maybe because no one has mentioned it. He told me that I was suppose to get it during the procedure. He said that I could receive it the next day but this was not an option as I would be traveling.

This treatment would have boosted my results. I requested it before hand, I wanted to receive it, but was not asked about it again before the procedure.

#3: Handling of my complaint:

When I voiced my concern at the end of the procedure, I was treated like I imagined something. It was only after pressing that the technicians finally admitted that they did touch their phones. The male technician said that they were only doing so to let their family know that they would be late getting home. (He did change his gloves after this). The female was not honest though, stating that she only used her’s only to schedule the lunch.

Conclusion:

Taking a look at these factors: The unsanitary conditions, the failure to receive the ozone treatment as I had requested before, and the stress that the unprofessionalism caused, I feel that all these were contributing factors to the poor results that I now have.

This is my second transplant and this experience was very different from my first time. The technicians were completely disengaged. Looking over my notes from that day, I stated “I felt like a car being worked on, not a person”. Another reads “We are at lunch and most of the staff (inducing the technician doing my procedure) has never put their phones down.”

I have never bothered to reach back out to the company with my results past the 3 month mark as I have no confidence that anything will or even can be done at this point. I did not want to write this review. I planned on going to go my separate way with them but now seeing my poor results and consulting a college who works in this field, I feel like I need to speak out because I think that my poor results were caused by the unsanitary/stressful experience that I had during my procedure with Smile Clinic.

Additional information:

I have taken finasteride every day since the surgery and a biotin/keratin/Vitamin E/Folic Acid/Pumpkin Seed supplement since my surgery.
