Excellent Experience from Beginning to End. 100% Satisfied
WORTH IT
TLDR
Had a Rhinoplasty and hair transplant performed through TravelMedi. Everything went 100% perfectly across all communication, travel, accommodations, procedures completed, final results, and overall happiness. Was a perfect experience from start to finish, and quite a fun adventure.
Special thanks to all the members of staff who were friendly, welcoming, very professional and wonderful in every way possible. Berat Ertan, my medical coordinator, was a superstar at creating a perfect experience from start to finish.
Procedures
Had a hair transplant (4100 grafts, Norwood 4 or 5) and a Rhinoplasty (minimize the length of my nose) done on Feb 12 2022 & Feb 15 2022. I stayed in Istanbul for a total of 13 nights ( longer than I needed, but I wanted to recover nicely before flying home).
Initial Contact
Travelmedi did a great job of putting together a comprehensive, easy to understand , and detailed treatment plan for my requested plastic surgeries (hair transplant & rhinoplasty). I was quite happy with the cost of the package. Very affordable.
I was pleased that the initial quote had comments from Dr. Esra Bilgen on my nose, as well as Dr. Oyku Celen for my hair. It let me know that they had reviewed my photos and given their initial input.
TravelMedi Medical Team
Berat Ertan was my medical coordinator and did a great job of making sure I was informed of what was to happen, and translating anything I needed to relay to the medical team.
The entire experience was extremely professional, everyone was always on time, and if for some reason there was a delay due to unforeseen circumstances, that delay was relayed to me, with the reason, as well as a new time given.
My drivers to and from the airport as well as to and from clinics and hospitals were always impeccably on time, and excellent drivers. I felt safe the entire time.
Hair Transplant
Dr. Oyku Celen's clinic did a great job of my hair transplant. Everyone was extremely welcoming and very kind. The 2 staff members who completed my hair transplant were very friendly and quick to note if I was experiencing pain, before I ever had to tell them.
I had the hair transplant completed in one day (Feb 12 2022) during an 8 hour session. They had a nice meal waiting for me as soon as the hair transplant was completed.
Berat (medical coordinator) was with me before the procedure began, and checked in multiple times during the procedure. As soon as it was done, he was by my side until I reached my hotel room safely.
I was given all the necessary pain killers and drugs as well as a description of when to take which.
Rhinoplasty
I had an initial consultation with my rhinoplasty surgeon, Dr. Esra Bilgen on Feb 14 2022. We discussed what I was looking to achieve from my rhinoplasty surgery, and agreed on an outcome that I was happy with.
I am still recovering from both the rhinoplasty and hair surgery at the moment, but I am very happy with the results of both. Dr Esra Bilgen did a great job on my rhinoplasty.
I had a post-op appointment with Esra to remove my nose splint and discuss next steps before heading to the airport to fly home. (I left Istanbul 5 hours after Russia attacked Ukraine, although there didn't appear to be any trouble of being in Istanbul during this conflict).
Hotel Accommodations
During my recovery, I stayed at a lovely hotel, AC Hotel by Marriot. It is a very modern, clean, and excellent hotel. The cleaning service did a terrific job every day of making sure my room was spotless. I had an excellent king sized bed, the shower was great. No problems at all. Everything I needed, nothing I didn’t.
Hotel Food
Breakfast was included with my hotel, and it was consistently high quality throughout my stay. The kitchen staff is supremely accommodating.
I ordered room service a dozen times and it was always great food, served quickly.
Hotel location
The hotel is centrally located to both medical clinics and the hospital which created short travel times. The entire staff at the hotel was very accommodating to my needs, as well as the hotel was perfectly comfortable for my recovery.
It even had a produce store located across the street which was very convenient to get fresh fruit from. As well, there are 2 pharmacies within 100m, for easy access to medicine and medical supplies.
Hotel Noise
A few reviews I read on the hotel complained of noise, which is true, on saturday night people drive down the street playing very very loud music. However, unless you are in a concrete bunker, you will not escape the sounds on Saturday night no matter where you stay in the city. It is a vibrant city, and the hotel is as sound proof as is possible.
Restaurants
The area has a ton of great restaurants, located around Bal?kça Bal?k Ekmek
Restaurant in Besiktas. DO NOT go to Babalik restaurant. It is a scam and a total dump (food, service, and physical restaurant are disgusting).
Shopping
The hotel location is very suitable for shopping as well. A short walk up the road leads you to Halaskargazi cd road, which is a great area for street shopping.
Shopping Malls
You can take the transit bus and go to the malls which are Cevahir, Zorlu Center, Metrocity, Ozdilek Park, Sapphire AVM, Istinye Park.
All the malls are located about 20-40 minutes from the hotel by bus.
Grand bazaar and Blue Mosque are located about 30 minutes by bus and train from the hotel.
Conclusion
From my initial outreach to TravelMedi to get a quote for the work, to returning back to Canada after the work was completed, the entire experience has been A+ all the way.
I was extremely impressed with Berat Ertan, my medical coordinator for his level of professionalism, friendliness, compassion, and punctuality. He did a beyond amazing job of making sure every part of this experience went smoothly. He is 100% fluid in English, speaks like a native english speaker, and responds to texts in a quick manner.
