Great Work - Worth the Research!
WORTH IT$10,000
Overall, my experience at Anderson Hair was exceptional. What impressed me early on was the staff being honest with me. I had a virtual consult with Matt, one of the counselors, and I was dead set on getting the FUE (robot procedure) and he quickly told me the FUT procedure (strip procedure) was a much better fit for me. He could have let me go for the FUE and I would have spent much more money than what I did and had to shave my head. The FUT procedure gets more grafts and there is a much less likely chance for the grafts to be damaged. I told Matt I needed to to really think it over. To be honest, I expected him to be pushy, but he gave me space to think about it. It wasn’t like he was trying to make a sale. He wanted me to make MY OWN decision. If he had been pushy, I probably would have backed out. I was treated as a patient, not a customer.
Dr. Anderson was excellent as well in my virtual conference with him and he even gave me his office number if I needed to reach out. Another thing that must be stressed is if you want a hair transplant, you have to know it’s a lifelong commitment to therapeutics to slow/stop the balding process, primarily with finasteride and minoxidil. Dr. Anderson and his team explained this well. They also explained that once the procedure over that it is not the end of my communication with them, but the beginning. They continue to follow you throughout your entire hair restoration process.
You see, any practicing doctor can technically do a hair restoration procedure, even a psychiatrist. It is imperative you do you research and find someone in the field who is well respected. What gave me a peace of mind about Dr Anderson is he is board certified through the American Board of Hair Restoration Surgeons, which is a highly esteemed organization. He also belongs to other highly exclusive hair restoration organizations as well. So ultimately for me, I wanted someone who had credentials and experience. Dr Anderson has conducted thousands of hair restoration procedures. All these things coupled together, going to Dr Anderson gave me the peace of mind I could not get if I were to go overseas.
I showed up on a Friday, and I was very nervous. I legit cried. Dr Anderson’s staff consoled me and were very sweet to me. All his tech’s are absolute sweethearts. I might remember 5% of the day. I was given a light sedation and was asleep for most of the procedure. When my food got in at lunch, my order was wrong, and the staff went out of their way to go get me something else I would like. At the end of the day, the staff made sure I got safely to my hotel room. The facility is elaborate and very clean. Dr Anderson was personable and told me about his time as a roller hockey player at Michigan which helped settle my nerves. After the procedure, my head has mostly felt tight, but minimal pain. He also got me 500ish more grafts than planned! And if I would have went to someone who charges by the graft, i would have paid thousands more than what i did.
You’re given pain killers, but I only took one total, and I cut it in half and took it on separate occasions to help myself be more comfortable when I sleep. I could have not taken them and been fine honestly. Dr Anderson called me on the weekend to check up on me and left a voicemail which meant a lot as well. Two days after my procedure was my toughest day, but i was just fatigued and my head felt tight from swelling, which i was educated about beforehand! Now, I just wait results!
One more thing, be realistic. Dr Anderson cannot restore the density you had in high school. And he has to think about your future hair loss as well, even with therapeutics. If you are young and have significant recession, he has to think about long term and not just short. You only have so many donor grafts to put in the new areas. So keep your goals realistic, especially if you have significant hair loss and are in your 20’s/30’s.
