Hair Transplant

Dr. Lee performed my hair restoration surgery just over a month ago. At this time I cannot speak to the effectiveness of the surgery for me personally, as it will still be a few more months until the new growth begins, but I can share my experience during and post-surgery.

I had the FUT procedure done (the one where you’re left with a scar) because I need the maximum yield from the surgery. Dr Lee and his staff are very friendly and professional, and they make sure you’re comfortable pre and post surgery. I was put under about an hour after arriving and woke up a few hours later in little to no discomfort. They provided a meal at that point and then finished working on the graft area. I did feel some pain at that point, but it was manageable and when I brought it up to the staff they gave me something to help, which worked. Dr. Lee gave me his personal phone number in case I had any questions after the surgery, and the few times I reached out he was available to help!

Post-surgery there is some discomfort and tenderness with the stitches as well as the graft area, but it’s definitely manageable. You have to sleep upright or just slightly reclined for about 4 days which was hard the first night, but by the third night I got a good night of rest. For me the swelling began on the third day and was mostly gone by the sixth day. The swelling was pretty severe, but was only cosmetic, no pain involved. It was mostly around my forehead and eyes. I would suggest you allow yourself AT LEAST a full week after the surgery to basically do nothing but recover. If you can give yourself more time, even better, but I went back to work on the seventh day. I was able to wait a hat, but you want it slightly elevated so that it’s not hard on the graft area. It can be a little uncomfortable on the stitches though.

It’s been a month since the surgery and I finally went and got a haircut today. The scar is still visible, so I’ll need to keep my hair a bit longer than I used to in that area, but it is still fading and I think it won’t be difficult to hide. Given my experience to this point, I can say I would definitely recommend Dr. Lee and this procedure to somebody struggling with hair loss like I have, and I look forward to the new hair coming in.
