My Experience with Female FUT Hair Restoration (2 Years Later)

$22,000
I’m sharing this to help others make an informed decision—not to criticize anyone.

I’ve always had a naturally high forehead with fine, blonde hair at my temples. As I’ve gotten older, I noticed some thinning, but my soft, light hairline created a natural shadow that worked well for me.

After years of research, I chose to do an FUT procedure. The staff was kind, communicative, and supportive, especially before the procedure. However, I do wish I had more time with the doctor, as much of the work seemed to be done by technicians.

Now, nearly two years later, my main concern is the texture. My natural hair is very soft and fine, but the transplanted hair is much coarser and kinkier. I understand it comes from the back of the scalp but even there on me, it's soft and fine...I wasn’t prepared for how noticeable the difference would be.

The density is also less than I expected, and the hair at the front tends to lift and look stringy, which draws more attention to my forehead rather than softening it.

While my temples did improve, I still wear my hair down most of the time because I don’t feel fully comfortable with my hairline.

If I had known about the texture difference, I likely wouldn’t have chosen to do the procedure. I don’t think this is specific to my doctor—just something I wish had been more clearly communicated.
